Welcome everyone to SUNDAY TeaDay! International Oolong Day that is.

Chip should have known if he was going to leave TeaDay to me, this was coming!

Celebrate your day by brewing some up some nice OOLONG tea and sharing
what's in your cup today!

Awwww if you don't like oolong, you can still party with us!!

Please check in throughout the day, letting us know what various cups you are enjoying
at the moment. We would all love to hear! It doesn't have to be oolong!! But if it is, the
more the merrier!

If you can't check in as the day progresses, please check in when you can and reflect

TeaDay is the start of my day everyday - I always looking forward to hearing about
everyone's TeaDay, so...bottoms up...refill...repeat. With oolong of course. Word.

My thoughts exactly. Guess I'll get out my last sample of Oolong (a gift from Victoria- how about that?) and brew it sometime today...if I get around to it. It's a Ginseng Oolong.

Ambrosia Teas Organic Ceylon so far at work this morning. One more "run of the mill" Ceylons to add to the list, although this did have a hint of lemon or some type of natural citrus flavor to it. Is that what I'm supposed to expect out of the "good" Ceylons?

OK, I am resolved this week to get some Red Rose and try it out. How bad could it be?

Lemony is often used to describe the Ceylons grown at the highest altitude:

• Nuwara Eliya - This is the highest elevation where teas are
  grown in Sri Lanka. These are the best-known Ceylon teas,
  sometimes called the "Champagne of Ceylons," light, bright
  (=astringent), bearing floral aromas, and often described as lemony.

The Vithanakande FBOPF (EX) that I mentioned yesterday, however, is from another area:

• Ratnapura - Teas from this region are full-bodied and
  robust, even infusing to a dark red color. They can have
  much in common with Assams or China Blacks.

Now class, turning our attention to the highlighted tea category of the day ... oolong! ...

Jin Fo or Golden Buddha is a medium oxidation oolong from the mountainous Wuyi region in northern Fujian province. It is a fairly recent creation, being in production for only about ten years. This particular offering seems to be a bit roasted, as the Wuyi oolongs often are.



I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am having an extra helping of oolong today.

(Augie: this is the 9 oz size. It's perfect and it's cheap. Don't be intimidated by Victoria's big ones. 15 oz is just weird. In Florida we call them teapots when they get that size!)

Thanks for the info on the Ceylons (again).

The Red Rose is a strong black tea...more along the lines of an Assam with a hint of sweetness compared to a typical English Breakfast blend. It's a mix of Indonesian, Assam and Kenyan (I think). For grocery store stuff, it's the best I've ever had and has a distinct flavor you won't find in other blends...

Probably some jasmine when I wake up, I used to drink it a lot and now I rarely touch it.

Irish Breakfast this morning, as always. Boring, I know. I will, in Victoria's honor and to celebrate this declared International Oolong Day, brew up some oolong I have from Henley that I have not yet tried. My father in law is arriving tonight and perhaps we will have a tasting party.
