...and decided that my next purchase has to be a zojirushi water boiler without any exceptions. I've been looking at this one on amazon, large capacity, great temp. settings:

Now, my question is should I go ahead and order this one or are there others models cheaper elsewhere. I'm trying to look for the best deal on one.

I found the Panasonic one to be essentially the same and half the cost.

It's been working fine for a couple of years of 24/7 use. This year I sent it off to my wife's office since I've switched to using a ceramic stovetop kettle and boiling only the water I will be using for each infusion.

product reviews for other size Sunpentown water heaters are simply horrible, I would steer clear of that brand personally.

So it looks like that Panasonic is the best value
Thanks tenuki!

I have that same, exact model in the 3 liter version. I love it. I use it all day, every day. It's got 140, 175, 195, and 208 temp settings plus the slow dispense feature.

Check out the wiki on the subject, it explains it all quite well.

That settles it. The 3-liter Zojirushi is going on the birthday/Christmas wish list.

I absolutely love my 3.0 Zoji. I know there's something to be said for boiling fresh for every cup, but #1 I'm not enough of a connoisseur to notice the difference, and #2 I'm neither patient enough, nor meticulous enough to boil fresh and check the temp on every cup.
Zoji lets me be a tea lover.

I have a 3 liter Zoji that is used almost everyday. It was a huge upgrade from my Sunbeam Hot Shot and well worth every penny I paid for it.
Price wise, I paid the same price of the 4L one that was linked in the first post for my 3L one, but I did get a really nice Zojirushi brand stainless steel vacuum bottle thermos with mine. Either way, I absolutely love the one that I have.

If the Zoji is set to be ~180F for greens and green oolongs, how do you make black tea?! Wouldn't it take forever to heat up to 212F then back down again?

It takes a little time, yes. I often leave it at 208, and use a water cooler (small pitcher) to cool it off a bit for lower temp teas. If I know I'm switching to greens, I punch it down.
