I've broken two lids from my porcelain or china pots. Anyone know of a site where you can order replacement lids?
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

If you know the maker's name & pattern, sometimes you can find lids available on ebay. Good luck!

I broke a red clay Tokoname kyuusu last year - not too long after I first bought it, freshly shipped from Japan. It was "only" the handle that was harmed, but it was a seriously jagged break, of the type that is unsafe to try to mend with glue. The whole episode left me feeling depressed.
So, I still have the lid; it's sort of an in memoriam.
On the bright side: if anybody needs a lid for a red clay kyuusu, let me know! We might just have a match.
P.S. It's almost exactly 3" in diameter, or 7.5 cm if you are a metric person.

For my glass teapot, I'm on my third lid.
So far, so good I say.

anything counts, earthquakes etc....maybe some of your gf's , wives used the teapots as a throwing utensil?
i now just rinse the pot, the lid stays put. i just take out any remnants of leaves with thee fingers.

I personally have not broken a pot, but I have broken a Yuzamashi (water cooler) I "had" and all Hagi Ware set with a Yuzamashi, cup, and kyusu--all in hagi style. I had my yuzamashi on a tea tray on top of my desk and it some papers underneath it. During the night, something happened and made it fall the the floor. The next morning I noticed a large crack down the side. Very discouraging considering they whole set cost me a couple hundred dollars. All of the pieces--cup, kyusu, and yuzamashi were all made by the same Japanese potter....what a horrible day it was

Yeah i broke way too much.
One tokuname, two gaiwans, one cheap teapot which i didn't care about and one cheap glass teapot which i was quite fond of
I got pretty depressed the day i broke these things, but now i don't care.

Happily I didnt' break any of my yixings until now. I broke a Jenaer Glas teapot a long time ago and one plain white japanese porcellaine cup. I was sad but astonished over the straight crack - very good porcellain.
But to teapots, I have chipped something off from the spout of two kyusus. A very cheap one and a standard one. Both times I did not notice it when it happened.
