Recommendations for Andao Tea?

by Deleted User #18181 » Jul 17th, '08, 11:53

I'm going to order a tea table from them, since you qualify for free shipping after $50. I would like to order some teas to go along with the table, and wonder if anyone ordered from them before and has some good oolong or green tea recommendations?

I'd be interested to know what's good as well. I only ordered wares.

Ok, I took one for the team, and ordered their organic Lu An and Wu Yi Rou Guri with the nice green cups (for green tea) they had and of course the tea table..

Andao Tea Reviews:
Oolong:
Big Red Robe: This is a great oolong for the price and the best Reg Robe i've had. Its smooth with a little smokiness and some light sweetness. Good Gan. Great Qi! (90/100)

Green:
Buddah's Eyebrow: A little smoky. Tastes a lot like a good Indian green, but better, mellower with some sweetness. Some buttery mouth feel.(85/100)

Premium Jade Sword: Perfectly groomed, only buds. Very light tasting with a full buttery mouth feel. Nice medium sweetness. (90/100)

Melon Seed: Taste like tea with some slight nutty [maybe seedy?] taste. (85/90)

Thanks for the reviews.. I already made my order but anyway. You say Big Red Robe is great for the price, it may be great but the price seems quite high to me? It is $36 for 100g...

Its pricey, but you can get many red robes that aren't nearly as good for 9-10 dollars an ounce.

I already received my order, that was fast shipping for being free and for a quite large box! (to Sweden). I've tried the Wu Yu Rou Gui and I like it. However my tongue is half burned today so my tasting abilities are not at the top. The tea smells rather spicy which I like.. The taste is like a mellower black tea. It is very drinkable even though no flavor really jumped out at me, except some sweetness. It might be because of my burned tongue though.

I've had the chance to try the melon seed as well, brewing it in a large glass teapot. I really like it, it's very mellow, and slightly nutty as mentioned above. This tea is really subtle tasting though, not a very strong flavor. Overall I like both the teas I got from them and would recommend them.

You might try more leaf with the Lu An Gua Pian. While it's not a real strong tea, I generally find it more flavorful than many of the others.
