For Mary

I imagine some of you already read this strip, but this week we take a break from tech to pick on grad students.

That strip is so, so true. I spent the first two and a half years of my undergrad faking the English major just so I could have an excuse to read books. My MO when it came to papers and participation was "Think of the most outlandish thing you can. Now argue it." I'm not entirely sure the profs ever caught on...

Mary,
When do you start your trek to the Northwest? Or have you... :)

My move in date for my co-op is September 15th, but I have yet to finalize all the arrangements of the trip. I might be going out sooner, I might be going out later. I might take two weeks and see the country...or I might drive out in two days on a caffeine bender.

It all remains to be seen, but thank you for asking!

Heh heh heh. Back in high school when I was a barista, my coffeehouse had a hangover special called 'Wake the *freak* Up.' It was basically a thick smoothie of espresso ice, powderized coffee beans, several additional shots of chilled espresso, lots of chocolate, a banana, and a goodly scoop of vanilla froyo. We'd also throw in syrup shots if you asked/couldn't handle the coffee. I was a fan of a touch of Irish Cream.

That thing rivaled amphetamines.

It was pretty gross. You really had to have a fondness for the bean to get into it. Either that, or a be high schooler who'd only got a couple hours of sleep. Desperation certainly broadens one's palate.

Sounds like it should come with duct tape to keep one's head from exploding.

A combo of Golden Monkey and matcha would be jarring enough for me. "Matcha Monkey?" Hehehe!

And what did the average consumer of this drink look like, I wonder?
