Is there such a thing, just curious.I recently bought some "real" Green Tea(Gunpowder kind) and I'm pretty amazed at the difference between loose Green Tea compared to bags that I used to drink.I'm sure it gets even better as the Gunpowder Tea I bought is probably considered "low end" so there's better kinds for me to try in the future.
As for my question,I have only seen Chinese Gunpowder Tea and I'm curious is there such a thing as Ceylone Gunpowder.
Gunpowder isn't necessarily low end tea in my opinion. It's just different. Most people don't enjoy the flavor of it so it gets ranked lowly. I figure it's an acquired taste like Lapsang Souchong. I wouldn't consider Lapsang to be low end either, just different.
As far as ceylon gunpowder, I haven't seen any, but I don't discredit it's possible existence. It might be out there.

I suppose you can make gun powder out of any type since gun powder generally refers to how the leaf was rolled.
Don't always believe what you think!

My Upton order came in today and the first thing I tried was the sample of Ceylon Green I ordered- which was this:
http://www.uptontea.com/shopcart/item.a ... egoryID=35
It was a Ceylon Young Hyson.
Opening the baggie revealed a "typical" green tea aroma- slightly sweet but not as vegetal as some of the Japanese greens I've tried. I was surprised at the way the leaf was rolled too, more like an Oolong than the wiry green teas I'm used to.
The flavor wasn't spectacular. It's pretty close to a Chinese Hyson tea (think low grade), but with quite a bit more body to it. Again, almost more like an Oolong than a green tea. The sample will get used up when I'm in the mood for something like this, but probably not a re-order when the Chinese Hyson is about a buck less and a little better quality.
It was fun trying something new, though.
