Sources for TGY

by Space Samurai » Jul 29th, '08, 01:27

I need a few sources for some good, roasted TGY. Not any of this new age green crap. Any ideas?

Has anyone tried this one: http://www.jingteashop.com/pd-oolong-te ... an-yin.cfm

No, but I have looked at it a few times myself.

I have this one from Hou De:

It is fairly good, but I'm not the best judge since as you know,
I like them greener.

Red Blossom has one, "Fire Kuan Yin," I believe it's called. It doesn't quite live up to its firey name, but it is still medium-ish roasted.

Fire Kuan Yin sounds like a task for Human Resources.

Hah! That it does!

But back to the topic on hand...I really like the new age green crap. I'll be looking to replenish my supply of greenish oolongs in a month or so and will be wanting to treat myself to something good. Any favorite green TGY recs?

Space, Aura Teas has a "traditional" roast that I think you might enjoy.

Sorry Space, I have been out of the darker oolong game for several years...which seems like decades judging how everything is changing so fast in the world wide tea industry.

Good luck in your search!

Stephane's is one of the best I've had, followed by Just4Tea's, and Jing's aged from 2003.

The Just4Tea's is my benchmark right now. It looks like I'll be placing an order with Jing's.

Hop, I couldn't find the one you were talking about.

This tea is interesting. Apparently, they have been in the tea business for many moons where here father is a well known tea roaster. Her brother now carries on the tradition and is set in bringing back the traditional flavor "dark roast" of TGY of the past.
