want small pot with strainer

by maxman » Aug 10th, '08, 21:03

I was served tea in a restaurant from a small, about 8 - 12 oz, pot with a strainer. I've had pots with strainers but they've always been about 20 oz pots.
Anyone know where I can get the smaller version with a strainer?
Thanks in advance.

1 oz = 30 ml.

Are you looking for something porous or non porous, infuser basker, or a filter in the spout (sasame, obiami)?

30 ml in an oz. So, I'm looking for a 240 to 360 ml teapot with a strainer.
Non porous.
Infuser basket.
Thanks

The cheap teapot that adagio has is quite nice and it comes with an infuser. I don't really use the metal infuser in it cause the inside of the pot has smaller holes around the spout rather than just one big hole which holds most stuff back, but it is a nice size works great for me.

Hmmm, non porous and 8 oz does limit your options just a bit, but with a little searching, I am sure you can find something you like. Here are a few options:

1) A samll tetsubin. These come in various sizes and almost always come with an infuser basket. Several online vendors will have them.

2) Glass. Though I haven't seen a glass pot this small, there are some glass mugs with infusers that would work. Adagio sells one that I have and have had positive results with.

3) You could find a ceramic one. Something like this, but I don't know if it has an infuser. http://www.imperialtea.com/AB1002000Sto ... gory_ID=15

Yea I overlooked the fact that the PersonaliTEA is ~20oz so that might not be a good suggestion afterall...

I think Rikyu makes 8-10 oz enamel-lined (so non porous) tetsubins. I might be a little off in the way the brand name is spelled, though.

Bee House has an 11 ounce pot that is ceramic with a removable metal infuser. (I actually replaced my infuser, though, with one with a small handle to make removal better.) I use my 12 ounce Bee House quite often and have been happy with it.
