I haven't tried any green tea from here yet but they seem to have a great selection of Chinese green at a very reasonable price.

I'd be happy to send you some of what I ordered so you can test with us. It will be more than I need and no one else joined in on our little tasting.shogun89 wrote:That sounds really cool!!!devites wrote:I got the premium and salsero I believe got the superfine and supreme and were going to do a taste test.
I've ordered from Dragon Tea House before. I definitely have mixed feelings about them. I can't recall all of the details, but here's what I remember:
-- The green tea I purchased from them (can't recall which) was middle-grade.
-- The jasmine buds I ordered were old and scentless.
-- The "eight treasures" herbal I ordered was really nice, and a pleasant change of pace.
-- And the blooming display teas were made with low-quality green tea that turned bitter far too quickly to be enjoyed.

I've always thought of DTH as a place to get puerh tea and maybe teaware. Green and oolong I have always ordered elsewhere. I don't use herbal, blooming, or jasmine. I just ordered some Long Jing that is supposed to be high quality, but we will see!Splinters wrote: I definitely have mixed feelings about them.

I have no experience with this store. But about your comment 1, the tea is middle-grade - do you mean the tea is labeled as 'middle grade"? If so, I think it's totally ok. Most teas in US market, just from the price you can tell, they are not top-grade. But it's totally fine. In China, Japan and other tea drinking countries, most people drink Grade II or Grade III tea most of the time too. Many Grade II and Grade III teas are already very good. Grade I teas are very expensive, and costs of transporting and warehousing them could be a few times more than their own price. Most retailers cannot afford, or it's not profitable for them to carry Grade I tea.
I totally agree with your last comments about blooming display tea. I don't think they are made for drinking and I don't like the whole idea at all.

The long jing arrived a while ago. I got the Nonpareil and Superfine, which I have shared out with Devites and Shogun. They are both top notch teas. I would have to say the Nonpareil is even better than the TeaSpring Emperor Long Jing that is my usual LJ. (TeaSpring also has one or two more expensive ones that I have not tasted, and which are probably mind blowing.) A big drawback to the Dragon Tea House LJ is that you have to order at least 100 grams, which is a lot for me. TeaSpring lets you order as little as 25 grams, which suits my consumption habits much better.Salsero wrote:I just ordered some Long Jing that is supposed to be high quality, but we will see!Splinters wrote: I definitely have mixed feelings about them.
But the long and short of it is that I will have to change my thinking about Dragon Tea House. Gordon is no longer running just a puerh shop: This is some serious green tea.

Ooh, that does sound promising. I look forward to hearing what Devites and Shogun have to say about it, too!Salsero wrote:The long jing arrived a while ago.
