Keeping it "light" today, but not calorie wise! Today, it is a casual TeaRoom TeaDay and we can learn a tid bit about each other, such as our current favorite ethnic food, and why? Please share.

I'll probably be the lone vote for German food, but it's my favorite and I don't get it enough. I'm a first generation American- my folks came over here from Germany in the 1950's and I grew up with Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Goulash, Spaetzle, etc. cooked all the time at home. Now, I'm lucky to get anything other than bratwurst and sauerkraut more than once a year...

I wanted to vote for a few choices. A good part of my family is german, so I grew up with the stuff. I'm also Native American, and my grandma's cooking was a huge part of my life growing up.
I'm settling on Italian as my final answer, because I cook it all the time and a good tomato sauce tastes like home to me.
Tea today: Song Yang (I've noticed trying to taste the differences in white teas is very difficult for me).

I like all the options, but if I had to choose just one, I'd take Thai. I spend a lot of time in Copenhagen, and for some reason that city has a lot of great Thai restaurants. The food is deliciously spicy, it's not too heavy, it's varied and it can be healthy - that checks most of my boxes. Oh, and it's cheap.
That's one great looking tray, Salsero.

I voted French, have gotten really into it after having just returned from the Dordogne. While over there I had my first experiences with Fois Gras and Escargot, both of which were simply two of the best things I've ever tasted.
Some slightly dissapointing sencha to start my day, got about 15g of it left and I can't see myself getting through it in a hurry, will probably ice it. Yutaka Midori arriving this week however!
Have a good weekend everyone!

This is a difficult question because I LOVE food! I chose "Other Asian" because I am absolutely smitten with Vietnamese food and would eat pho every day if I could. However, I could have easily chosen either Thai food or Middle Eastern food (hummus, baba ganouj, falafel...drool)as my favorite. Or Japanese...love sushi!
This morning I'm drinking Irish Breakfast.

Where is the "All of the above" option?????
I'm a borderline 'foodie' so I am obligated to not take sides on this one. My vote - other
Sipping organic gyokuro this wonderful picturesque morning. I didn't do so good on the first steep but recovered on the second. Whew!

I haven't the time for tea this morning, as I'm preparing to drive to Columbus, Mississippi to speak and debate on libertarian (note the lowercase 'l', mods
) issues.
But I expect I'll be semi-fu'ing there, which just might get as much attention as the on-topic stuff.
I'm currently listening to Aretha Franklin's "Drown In My Own Tears" (1967) and deciding what will fill my yixing on the road.

Cool story! Thanx for sharing. Next time you're in my area, you'll have to check out this place. They serve authentic German cuisine. They've also got great steaks & other dishes, too. It's one of our favorite places.omegapd wrote:I'll probably be the lone vote for German food, but it's my favorite and I don't get it enough. Answer choice was a tough call between Italian & Japanese. Since I could only choose one, my vote ended up Italian. I'm a sucker for tomatoes & all the tomato based sauces. Give me smoked chicken ravioli w/marinara cream sauce any day & I'm a happy girl!
Full day ahead so the Golden Monkey w/bfast may be my only tea til later tonight. Have a good one, everybody!
