Tuesday TeaDay 9/09/08 Crave Factor for Whites?

by Chip » Sep 9th, '08, 02:52

Welcome everyone to TeaDay! Shall we brew abundantly and share what is in our cups today, all day?

Yesterday, more responders indicated they craved tea more in the morning than night. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic once again asks what is your CRAVE FACTOR, this time for WHITE tea? So, do you crave white tea, what is your personal crave factor for white teas? Chinese or Indian or Ceylon?

I am craving sharing TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up!

KNOW THE GYO

by Salsero » Sep 9th, '08, 03:03

I have only had a few whites, but some have been magnificent ... it's like one of those great cities you always plan to go back to visit, but just never quite get there.

Last night, on the other hand, I visited someplace new to me. I had my first Gyo Glow. The jury is still deliberating the amazing result: It is so very different from any other form of tea ever! And you can eat the leaves! Many thanks to Olivierco for taking me by the pudgy hand and telling me which one to get, how to brew it, and even providing the perfect chataku!

Additional thanks to Chip, Pentox and many supporting players for talking me up to and through this personal milestone!

A strong 10 for me. The whites just get better and better as I refine the brewing process and discover more complexities. Just ordered some Ceylon Silver Tip, which looks just like SN, and presumably also has much the same qualities. Can't wait to find out.

I enjoy white tea, but I don't really drink a lot of them for some reason. Only white tea I have at the moment is Jin Zhi Yu Ye.
Received my Tokoname kyusu and new cups yesterday, so thinking about what tea I want to start with.

Salsero, looks good! But I think I'm going to the cupboard for some white tea I bought a few weeks ago. I go through white tea phases like green. Occasionally and for a couple of weeks.

Not many white teas for me, but I had some very good ones.

I'm drinking Adagio White Blueberry. I'm not big on flavored tea but this is really good stuff.

I like white tea but don't crave them. I enjoy it once a while whenever I want to steer away from the greens that moment. I tend to overbrew white teas though, dunno why... I follow what the labels tell me but just tastes over brewed. eh

This morning, I'm just finishing off the rest of my sencha extra green, which means I need to replenish my supply again! 8)

I like to keep a couple of white teas around for a change of pace but don't drink them very often. So, I don't crave them at all, I guess...

White tea is ok...I crave if anything white blueberry over ice with a little simple syrup. That's about it.

I've only ever had Bigelow's bagged white tangerine, so I'm going to say I've never had it. :P I want to try it, but I want to know that it's been brewed properly!

Answer: 5 Maybe, though crave might be too strong a word

Love a couple that I keep in my rotation -
Don't really crave them, but they are a nice change of pace.
Just bought a new one from Lupicia while on vacation.

This morning's brew - the last of my Tao of Tea Alishan.
Wow, I am very pleased with myself when I finish a can.
Although a slight panic sets in, and that "should I replace it feeling"
hits, which I need to get over. I won't be running out of tea anytime soon.
