Zarafina tea maker issues?

by horsencl » Sep 12th, '08, 00:38

I've had my Zarafina tea maker for close to a year and I've loved it, never had any issues...until now. Sometimes it will only pour out about a half inch of brewed tea and then turns itself off. The only way to get out the rest is to rebrew, which can make for a bitter cuppa. Usually it will stop doing it if I brew another batch right afterwards. Anyone else have these issues or any advice on how to stop it?

Marshal, that is harsh. There are only two problems with that machine:
1. It is expensive
2. It doesn't make good tea
:D

It makes okay tea. But it is not a tool for serious tea appreciation.

I would contach Zarafina and see if they have any ideas. I never used mine enough for it to break.

Marshal is right, though, IMO. Sorry you're having problems with it, but this may be a good opportunity to explore other tea making options.

That was a bit harsh, lol. I do also own "real" tea pots, a gaiwan and the whole nine yards. In fact I can't even use it in the summer months because using it and an air conditioner at the same time blows fuses in my wonderful apartment :? It is expensive, which is why I bought it when I got it on sale with free shipping. I've found that it has made a very good cup of tea every time until this problem arose. I know many consider it cheating but I just don't have the time or energy to do scales and thermometers the way that some people do. I also know that going to those extremes isn't necessary but I'm a newbie with a habit of either under or over brewing. The machine is a good way to avoid that until I get better at it. I will give Zarafina a call when I have a chance.

P.S. Responses like that often scare newbies away from message boards. Remember, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar
