Cleaning a cotton tea strainer...

I bought a tea strainer made of cotton last night and used it to brew some mate, it worked extremely well and I'm happy with the outcome but I was wondering what would be the best way to wash and dry it?

Just water, in my opinion. Soap will deposit oils which make tea taste soapy unless it's rinsed for ages. It will get stained, and that's OK.

I wondered about cleaning those too. If you are switching teas or one was strongly flavored, I'd give it several pour throughs of boiling water.

In Costa Rica coffee is made with a cotton bag put in water. The best i've used to clean those is saltwater.
