Tea in the Garden

by JadeKitsune » Sep 14th, '08, 21:28

A little while back, omegapd posted a beautiful picture of his porch. I thought I'd encourage more picture sharing by posting a few of my own:

Hands down, the patio garden is my favorite place to drink tea. You can't get a full view here, but these are few of my favorites.

This is a little purple basil plant I rescued. It’s cascading out of the pot because when I originally received it, it was lying on its side, roots exposed, but still growing towards the sun.

You can’t help but love something that struggles so hard to live. The leaves fade from light green to deep purple; lightly spicy.

I don’t have the right to call these bonsai yet. They are very adorable ficus plants though. They’re almost healthy enough that I can shape them.

I love that blue pot. It’s like looking into Caribbean waves.

The latest edition! Such a bright spirited plant. Jon picked him up in Southwoods, and I’m trying him out on the ledge.

Reminds me of our sub-atomic Thai peppers from a few years back. *sighs* Fond memories.

So what about you? I'd love to see your favorite tea nook.

Wow, beautiful. Thanks for sharing some of your porch playmates. Do they ever get any of your tea?

*laughs* You know, it's funny you mention that. In a way, they do share it with me.

I'm a writer, and I offer the "incense" of steaming tea as a gift to the muse.

So far, she has been kind ;-).

Very nice pics and such a sweet sentiment. I have rescued many plants in my day too, I just don't understand throwing away a living thing. The best of which was a lovely jade plant thrown in the dumpster! The dumptser!!!

Your plants are lovely, thanks for sharing!

Thank you both for the kind words; that's very encouraging.

Victoria,

A jade plant! Who on earth would throw that away! I'm glad you adopted it.

I have a theory:

Plants (and people) who survive rough times come back a bit hardier.

An old legend speaks of two priests, each planting trees on opposite sides of the temple. As the saplings grew, both priests petitioned heaven on their behalf...
