triniTEA tea maker

by fyman » Nov 13th, '05, 12:22

Hello folks;

Just got my triniTEA machine last week and wanted to point out some problems/look for answers. (Should we send this back?)

We wrote to Chris about the problem of not having instructions/owners manual/warranty documentation, and he quickly responded with "you don't need one". So, anyway we figured it out ourselves after reading a word file later.

Next, we were very dissapointed that this unit will not be appropriate for making green or white teas, which we wanted to try from Adagio. The temperature cannot be adjusted from "boiling' to the required 180 degrees.

Lastly, we cannot use the decanter without it dribbling. spilling, leaking, and otherwise making a wasteful mess when trying to pour the product EVERY time!!!

I was hoping for a better designed machine at this price.

Anyone who has one of these, please comment.... As I asked Adiago earler- do they issue Fedex call tags for a return? The question was avoided, so I must assume that I must pay the freight to have it shipped back.

Thanks for reading, and any advice is apppreciated

Trinatea

by Lana Y » Nov 13th, '05, 12:38

I was one of the first, to purchase the Trinatea....
and I love mine. I don't drink black tea, and find no problems with this unique machine. Mine is on all day everyday at work.
I fill the teapot to the 4 cup line, then pour all but about 3/4 of a cup into the top, to heat. I fill the infuser with the amount of tea required, then add the 3/4 c cool water around the infuser..this brings the boiling water down to the correct temp for Oolong and Green teas, when the hot water drops to infuse. Turns out perfect every time. As to your decanter pouring..I know we all want our tea FAST, but just pour slowly, and your perfect cup awaits.

Thanks for the idea on using it with green tea... maybe it will get the temperature tamed somewhat!

as far a the decanter, nothing works.... Like I explained; it's a sloppy mess EVERY time. Has nothing to do with how fast it's poured..... NO WAIT- maybe if it was'nt poured at all- that's it!

Very frustrating.

I also had the pouring problem....and still do if I don't concentrate, but if I pour lightly and slowly, it's fine...
As I mentioned, I love mine...

I've solved the dribbling problem. Just take the plastic top off and pour without it. The pot won't dribble.

Mine is really inconsistent. The water drops to the middle chamber and stays there--oversteeping--and doesn't drain to the pot. This happens about 75% of the time. Adagio said I was overfilling. Now I'm not. They said I wasn't lining it up right. I line it up the same way every time and well over half the time it doesnt' work.

They did say they'd pay to ship it back. And now I've used up nearly all my decaf tea on experimenting with the machine and it doesn't look like there's any more in stock.

I love adagio. I love gadgets. But sorry guys, it doesn't look like I'll be ordering the trinitea any time soon. I'll wait for version 2.0 to come out. I'm sure going to keep ordering teas though! (and I LOVE the ingenuitea 2.0)

Mine still manages to dribble sometimes even without the lid. That said...I've never been able to pour from ANY coffee maker's decanter without dribbling, so I never attributed it some flaw in the TriniTEA until I started reading the frequent mention of this phenomenon in the review.

Over the years, I've simply learned to hold my mug over the sink to catch all of the inevitable dribbles as I pour my coffee/tea.

Actually, if you just remove the plastic "lid" from the carafe when pouring, the dribbling is virtually eliminated.

trinitea

I was also one of the first to order one and now it doesn't work at all -- NO power -- nothing. Tried to live chat with these folks and the operators aren't on now. They had better replace it for that price. I also agree that it is an inconsistent gadget.

I use mine a minimum of 4 times a day and absolutely love it. I was worried as the other day the electric was going off and on about 30 times throughout the day. I had the trinitea going 2 of the times it went off but so far no problems. It was tricky getting the tea out of the steeping area though without a mess.

I'm still waiting for the new version that is coming out in a couple of months with a variable temperature setting. Since I don't drink much black tea, it doesn't make sense to get one right now, but I'll probably get one as soon as that new version comes out!

Hi Sue! I'm sorry to hear about your trinitea. Have you heard anything back yet? If not, drop them a line at info@adagio.com . Be nice, and they'll probobly bend over backwards for you. :)

I didn't know about the new one coming out until after I had already bought it and happened to see something about it on the chat. I'm glad I bought it anyway though and actually will probably buy the new one also and just gift this on to someone in the family. I love it so much that it was worth having it all this time so far. It has totally opened me up to a new world of fun as I just always drank bagged tea before its appearance on the kitchen counter.

Ok, so I just noticed that the trinitea is listed as $99 and unavailable. I'm assuming that means that the new model will be $99 and they are all out of the old model. Does that also mean that it won't be long before the new one is here though? Am I just wishful thinking?

The new model, as per a recent conversation I had with (I think) Ilya, will be out in a couple of months. When the TriniTEA first came out, they said that the price of $75 was introductory and would probably be raised after the holidays to $99. I think that's what's happened. They may be out of the v1.0 units and may just need to restock - I'm not sure.

Hope this was helpful!
