Tuesday TeaDay 9/30/08 Fave tea of the month?

by Chip » Sep 30th, '08, 03:16

Welcome everyone to a month ending version of TeaDay. I hope we can share what is in our cups today, all day.

Yesterday's poll results were interesting I thought. The women were pretty evenly spread out over Black, Oolong, and Green teas. The men were spread evenly over Oolong and Green teas with more Pu-erh than the women as well. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today, the last day of the month, we again look at your favorite tea for the past month. What country was it from? What type of tea was it? Any details you would like to share are welcome as well.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

What a day. Received my new pots today from Yunnan sourcing, and immediately had to leave to work a 13 hour shift. Knowing I had new goods waiting for me at home made the day last even longer.

As for the poll, Pu-erh from China all the way.

I'm loving a Formosa lapsang right now. Which happens to be what I'm drinking at the moment.

Runner ups are the fruit teas from Adagio, which have a Ceylon base.

Current favorite is Pai Mu Tan. Love my white tea.

However, a nice darjeeling is in the mug first thing this morning. :D

Hmmm, I think I will go with Japan, ftw! Definitely Japan, my fav tea for the month has been Yutaka Midori, the classic from O-Cha. It is in my cup currently. This is the perfect sencha to share with someone. I can tell you pretty much about this tea, but Kevin, the owner of O-Cha likes to keep some of it a mystery.

Just a word of thanks. I have been dealing with some things lately. Most of you already know about my getting hit by a car while out on a bike ride. However, I have also been dealing with a suddenly ailing mother who will be going semi home today, hopefully a positive step. Anyway, I have been certainly less focused on the forum dealing with this stuff.

I wanted to say thanks for the support I have received at this time, I do appreciate it. :)
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

This poll will probably be skewed towards China, because so many tea varieties are represented there. As for me, I'm voting for Taiwan since I've been infatuated with high mountain oolongs

Sorry to hear about your mother, Chip.

September was my month to discover gyokuro and its fraternal twin tencha, so I am voting Japan. In the last few days I have also been making matcha a little more regularly.

The flowers are Swamp Sunflower, Heliantus angustifolius. Of course, our friend on the glass needs no intro.

Favorite tea of this month would be Sencha Yutaka Midori from Japan, on a very close 2nd place comes Gyokuro Kame-Giru-Shi also from Japan.

Gonna have some Sencha Yutaka Midori now. I would have had Matcha if I had any, that Matcha in Salseros picture looks mighty delicious...

In my cup this morning another Darjeeling -

So guess what? I think I have to vote for India this month.
Darjeelings were my main focus this month.

Have a nice day everyone!

Chip, I'm sorry to hear about your mother. It can be exhausting to be a caregiver (I know from experience), so please don't forget to take good care of yourself too. I hope you are recovering all right from your accident?

Re: today's poll, it's very hard right for me right now to choose between Japan and China (and although I haven't had a lot of Taiwanese oolong, what I've had was delicious too!). So I'm going to have to think about this one... too many wonderful choices...

My favorite tea of the month comes from Japan. Miyabi sencha and kanro gyokuro for september.
I was also very glad that my favorite Keemun was back on stock after two long years.
