Welcome everyone to TeaDay. I hope we can all brew and share what is in our cups today, all day.
Yesterday's poll is a virtual dead heat so far. Black, oolong and green teas are the top picks of responders if they were marooned on an island with only one tea. Pu-erh is making a respectable showing. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today we flip it around a bit. Marooned again on an island, what is the LAST tea you would want to be "stuck with?" Details and why?
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Heh! Easy. Although I've never tried puehr, I can safely say that I would least like to have herbal "teas" on my desert island
Currently heating water for some Emperor Long Jing (for me) and jasmine tea (for hubby)!

Hmmm, maybe I should have made this true tea only. I have a feeling herbals will take a beating today.chamekke wrote:Heh! Easy. Although I've never tried puehr, I can safely say that I would least like to have herbal "teas" on my desert island![]()

wow, this is a really negative poll
I'm kinda disappointed in you, Chip
"Why can't we all just get along?"
Anyway ... I voted white tea, just because sometimes the subtle flavor is just too subtle for me. I like boldness in my teas. I would've chosen herbal teas but I haven't tried any yet, so I'm not going to rule it out (yet)
My prediction: herbal tea is going down today

Thank you, Chip, for finally having a poll I can vote in without having to wring my hands and waffle for hours before deciding!
Monday the dry leaves. Today the infused liquor, which I tediously reviewed HERE.

Same here. The two whites I've had were very nice, but if I was stranded I'd want something with more oomph to it. I would have voted for herbals, but I've been craving rooibos lately.Maitre_Tea wrote:I voted white tea, just because sometimes the subtle flavor is just too subtle for me. No tea yet today. I've got the last of that strawberry black steeping right now for iced tea. My Adagio order is due in this afternoon. I can't wait!!!

I voted for blacks because they are usually much too strong and bitter for me. I usually don't like anything darker than a good Oolong. If I had nothing to drink but tea, I'd much prefer a more subtle taste. The only tea I've had today was rooibos. Other than that it has been lots of water and my mom has been shoveling this horrid theraflu drink stuff down my throat since I've got a pretty bad chest cold in the works.

Actually most herbals aren't my thing, yet I can think of worse -
Kombucha
I could get used to herbals if nothing else was available but -
Kombucha - Gets voted OFF the ISLAND!!!!

I think I'd vote herbals off my island. Anything made from Camellia sinensis gets to stay.
And for future reference, the wimpiness of whites is blown out of all proportion. I'll have you know it takes a non-wimp to successfully carry off being seen daintily sipping such a girly brew.

I had to pick pu'erh. It's not that I don't like it. I actually do. However, I can only drink small amounts at a time so I think I'd be spending a lot of time wishing I had something I could enjoy more frequently.
We had a tea feast at my house last night. We were celebrating the 1st anniversary of my blog. (Any excuse to celebrate around here.) I broke out Tonia George's "Tea Cookbook" and Joanna Pruess's "Eat Tea." We had Indian Baked Chicken (marinated in a yogurt/cinnamon orange tea/spice marinade), acorn squash with an orange juice/cinnamon orange tea glaze, chai vanilla milk shakes, and Two Queens Rice Pudding made with basmati rice and milk infused with Darjeeling tea. I would DEFINITELY recommend these cookbooks.
I think today could be a tea let down! To combat this I'm going to brew some Craigshead Estate FBOPF Ceylon.
