Tea Leaves in Smoothies

by JM » Oct 11th, '08, 20:27

Does anyone add used tea leaves to their smoothies?

I was thinking about adding them after I use them for my breakfast tea for my lunch protein powdered drink.

Just thinking out loud...

I like Matcha blended in smoothies and milkshakes.
I suppose regular tea leaves would work if your blender is strong enough to actually chop the leaves into a smooth consistency.

Or, once they are dried, grind them with a mortar and pestle.

A person after my own heart! I put them into a small coffee bean grinder before putting them into the blender. I always put ginger in my smoothies as well so that goes in w/ the tea leaves. the night before, I also steep tea in the juice I use for my smoothies. I always use 1 teaspoon of tea leaves per 6oz of smoothie (not just the liquid you add to it).
