Sunday TeaRoom 10/12/08 Good movie or book?

by Chip » Oct 12th, '08, 01:50

Welcome to a Sunday edition of TeaRoom TeaDay. Please share what is in your cup today, all day!

Yesterday, the overwhelming majority of responders indicated that caffeine was not the most important aspect of tea for them. You have to wonder what COFFEE drinkers would say to this question about their coffee consumption. You can still vote and discuss this topic.

Today's TeaPoll and TeaRoom discussion topic. I watched an interesting movie this evening. I wondered, have you seen a good movie lately? Please share. You can sub with a book, or both.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up.

I see good movies all the time. Currently in the middle of a Halloween marathon. Tonights choice was Ginger Snaps. Probably one of my favorite horror movies. Very smart and well acted.

My movie list ~ http://www.invelos.com/DVDCollection.aspx/Trioxin

I'm sick as hell, so I've been on a steady diet of pu-erh. This morning it looked like I could be coming down with strep, but after consuming pu all day, my throat barely hurts. Currently drinking 2008 Xiaguan 8100.

Bai Ji Guan

by Salsero » Oct 12th, '08, 02:16

Oofda, there are so many! At the moment I am watching the British made-for-TV trilogy House of Cards. For the past few months I have been reading a lot of W. Somerset Maugham, which I am really enjoying.

Segue, transition, segue, mmm...

Just finished Maugham's The Painted Veil which is set in China ... Hong Kong and the interior... China is the Home of Tea ... shuffle, cough, ... Bai Ji Guan is from the Wuyi Mountain area in northern Fujian Province ...

Bai Ji Guan (White Cockscomb) oolong is famous for its yellow leaves, which you can see in the spent leaves of the large image if you click on the picture.

Gotta love that cup Salsero...

I hate movies so hadn't seen a good one of them since the original In the Heat of the Night with Rod Steiger and Sidney Poitier. Maybe I can add Napoleon Dynamite to that too. That was a great movie.

Books- Well, I've been reading some old favorites again...nothing new. Hemingway, John Jakes, even a Steven King in there occasionally (From a Buick "8").

Gonna be another Pu day with a Ceylon Green at lunch. Wife picked that one out. :? I reckon' I'll survive a cup of green this week.

What on earth are you all doing up at this time of the morning?? Is this one of the effects of tea ? Yikes.
I was going to mention The Painted Veil; it was one if the best movies I have seen recently.( and I loved the ending) I did not read the book - I think I'll look for it. I've been reading Oliver Sachs, A Leg to Stand On, and listened to the Island of the Colorblind on tape.

edited to add - it is another beautiful picture - I'm too fragmented to ask questions right now.

I woke up at 2:30, had a third resteep of Darjeeling - the caffeine is supposed to be gone by now, right?

Nighty Night. I hope.

I know me and trioxin are at work, it's daytime where olivierco is and Salsero feels cheated if he's not the first one to post each day.

Good Morn!

I've been up for hours, aren't weekends supposed to be relaxing? :?

Haven't had the time lately for a good book or movie, that's pretty pathetic; Anyhow, one of my all time fav movies was the first Halloween! I also am looking forward to a Halloween marathon, although they did get progressively worse as usually happens w/sequels.

Started off w/Emperor Long Ling, moving on to Japanese green. Lator!

Hav a FAB TeaDay!

I'm a sucker for anything by Neal Stephenson (I suspect I may be a nerd), and his latest, Anathem, went straight to my Top Five. It's sci-fi, philosophy, technology, political commentary, and an exciting story condensed into 900 pages. And he's given the story a decent ending, for a change.

This year has been a dry spell for movies at Palazzo Trey, but I'm looking forward to the next Bond and Wall-e on DVD.

Enjoying both SN and Sencha today. It's time to order something new, and I'm looking hard at some oolong. Expanding horizons etc.

I must say that I've both seen a good movie and read a good book lately. We just watched "The Other Boleyn Girl" last weekend. For books, I'm reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter." I also re-read "In the Time of Butterflies" by Julia Alvarez.

Baby with croup here so I've been up a lot of the night. I think Golden Monkey is in order to start the day. I'm also banking on a long day of oolong infusions to keep me smiling.

I always borrow movies for free from public library. They are great most of the time, better than most newly released movies that costs pretty much nowadays :P

One of my favorite books to go with tea is Zen in the Art of Archery

Keemun black tea this morning :D

Other: I saw a great movie AND read a great book.

The movie was Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

The book was written a few years back describing all these silly things that were supposedly about to happen to the economy involving housing, banks, and other unlikely stuff and what we could do about it if someone would just listen. It's a real laugh riot.

Sophie D. Coe's history of chocolate is really good. Lots of info about the Mayans and other pre-colonial Mesoamerican cultures. I liked it quite a bit.

Irish breakfast to start the day.
