Thanks for letting us know. I wish I could justify another pot right now...

Mmm, maybe we should start a new thread, "Reasons you really do need a new teapot right now".

I don't really like the look of those. Shaping is bulky and clay looks too much like new world teracotta.

Well you can't exactly expect artisan quality for $11 - $12

My father used to and still does tell me constantly, buy quality from the start so you dont need to buy again. I think I will get one of those 1992 pots from YSLLC.

The photos, what there are, are not that good, so it's hard to tell much of anything. No photos of front, back, bottom or inside. If someone is interested, my suggestion is to email him and ask for details about construction - he can tell whether they are slip cast, made on an electric potter's wheel or hand-made with molds. I know you can get a Yixing pot that's hand-made with molds for that price, but people also sell cheaper, cruder pots for that price, too.

I would ask for more info on clay, too, but he may or may not know enough about pots to be able to tell.

And then come back and tell us simply everything!

Your father is right buy quality, He's wrong in one thing you can't have less than one!

https://1001plateaus.com/ this place has some nice stuff. Their stuff looks better than Scott's and Puerh shop's imho, General

I added this one late http://shop.luhyutea.com/category.sc;js ... tegoryId=2

Both are in the States so shipping should be cheaper.

Are you basing your recommendations on just viewing the sites, or do you mean you have pots from those two and "they look better".

I chose the sites because they had some pots ranging in the $30 to $80 range, I thought Shogun should have more options besides ysllc especially for $30.

In my case when I can't hold and see the item personally, paying close attention to the details such as the proportion of lid to the size of pot, and how big the knob on the lid is compared to the rest of the pot might reveal the workmanship and the amount of effort the pot maker put into his/her work.

Personally, I find pots from ysllc not pleasing to the eye that's all. My brother had 2 of Scott's pots and both were sold on tea swap here.
