I saw this picture browsing through some chinese tea forums. It seems the owner of pot had heat sensitive fingers, and added the piece of jade? tied to shi piao pot lid.
Heard some pot owners complained about the steam rising or hot lid of this pot, this contraption might solve this inconvenience.

Hummm interesting. I have a glass kyusu that I love but the vent is through the top of the knob
- very inconvenient!! Something like this might work for me too.

At first glance it looked like there was a lifesaver candy stuck to that pot
