This machine was featured in the Financial Times newspaper in the UK and claims to be able to brew the "perfect cup" of tea... (see video)

It looks quite interesting but I can see a number of issues with it and for me it would take all the fun out of brewing
Price £149.99
Opinions?

A machine like this should be mandatory in every school and every company

While I really enjoy traditional brewing, the gadget freak in me sorta wants this... especially at work! I'm sure it would take some of the brewing fun out of the process, and I suspect the tea wouldn't taste as good... but I will be curious to hear reviews if anyone actually uses this thing. It looks much nicer than the previous auto tea machines I've seen.

It looks interesting, but the price puts it forever out of my reach. As of today's currency converstions, that's $260.00 USD.

And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

I think it sells for much more in the US.

Yeah!
For myself at home, I prefer my simple, non-electric tea ware.
But I definitely advocate the idea that the company should get one for us to use during work! They got $500 (or more?) espresso machine, and before that, many other coffee machines!

I wouldn't doubt it. I was simply converting pounds to dollars for an immediate cost comparison.

I would love to have this gadget for my morning cup on workdays when time is in short supply. Maybe then I could actually sit down for a moment and enjoy it instead of gulping down the tea from a travel cup during my morning commute. Actually, now that I think it through I would probably do both
Thanks for posting the link.

If I got it, I could FINALLY get rid of all my gaiwan and kyusu!

Not happening for me. I just have 0% interest in such a gadget. I like the hands on aspect of tea making too much. In fact, as I have said before, I enjoy brewing tea as much as drinking it.
But that is just me.

And I thought the Zarafina was pricey.

It looks extremely nice. I enjoy making tea with a teapot, and I plan to get a nice gaiwan but I adore my TriniTEA for just casual drinking. It gets the temperature and timing better than I can myself most of the time, let alone when I'm doing other things! However YEESH, that baby's pricey. Makes the TriniTEA look like a cheap toy cost wise~

I dont trust anything to brew my tea for me. I would rather go with a zoji for water ready to go at the correct temp. and leave the rest of the actual brewing to myself.

I agree about brewing at home, but it might be nice of the office, especially if the company bought it!
