Hello all - after much thinking and going over the "show your pots" thread - I have decided to get the following two pots.
http://www.artisticnippon.com/product/t ... kanna.html
http://www.rishi-tea.com/store/kikumaru.html
Untill now, I had ignored all the threads regarding seasoning etc.
What do I do when I first get these? Can I just start using my teas?
Mainly -
1. Sencha
2. Gyokuro
3. Whites - exclusively silver needles
Do I soak the pots in water?
How do I clean these little guys?
Thank you..

I have the first one
Before starting to use it, I rinsed it several time with hot water. I am currently using it only for sencha.
For cleaning I only rinse it with hot water after use and dry it.

It didn't stay on my list very long: not too expensive and small capacity (4-5oz) which is perfect for sencha but difficult to find in stores.

I have the Tobikanna teapot too and I really love it for it's small size and its beauty. I love to handle it. The red part on mine is larger and more red than the pictured one. I have featured mine in TeaDay photos on the following dates:
I don't have the Kikumaru, but quite a few others on TeaChat have it and love it. It is quite a bit larger than the Tobikanna.

I have the Kikumaru too. I love the light color and the smooth feel of the clay. I just rinsed it under running hot water for at first, then filled it twice with boiling water, then poured out. I am dedicating this one to whites.

Looks pretty darn nice Sal! Thanks for all the photos. As I am not a huge sencha drinker yet. . . I have not seen too much cause to get one yet. All the tea and teaware is taking major hunks out of my PlayStation 3 funds so I have to kinda chill out for a while. Has an interesting copper color to it, interesting.

I'm about to buy a few items for my green tea. My wish list is longer than practical, so I want to try not to make any mistakes. Being highly recommended, I decided to order the Tobikanna pot. Unfortunately, it is out of stock at Artistic Nippon. The Kokudie by Sekiru looks nice(5 0unces). Anyone have any experience with this pot?
What sizes make sense for 1 person
2 persons
4 persons
Thanks!

For green tea 4 to 6 oz per person is OK.
Itome teapot by Gyokko or Kokudie by Sekiru are good choices.
