Welcome TeaChatters to Sunday on TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup through out the day.
Yesterday, the overwhelming majority of responders indicated that tea was either a passion or a hobby. You can still vote and discuss this topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Vegetal, fruity, floral, grassy, smokey, earthy ... which of THESE 6 flavor profiles wins the MOST favor with you in an unflavored tea? Please rank and share.
I am certainly looking forward to sharing tea flavors with evewryone today on TeaDay, bottoms up!

That is a little tough, I like floral and fruity in oolongs - but I guess floral wins overall.
In other teas maybe fruity wins. Like in whites and Darjeelings.
And I'm learning to like a little smoke in black teas.
Too much fruity can be a bad thing so I voted floral. I guess a nice, sweet, floral oolong is my favorite. A long time ago someone pointed that out to me. I guess they were right.

I went with fruity, as I find it commonly in the blacks and darker, more roasted oolongs I favor. I'm down with everything but vegetal, though. Something about that is just off-putting.

I did not vote yet. I don't really have a preference for the choices. What I look in tea is a balance of flavor that is that 'full mouth' flavor. This usually involves having the right amount and more than one of the choices above. So I can't say one is more important or preferred than another.
In my cup? - Ramen! though I will have a cup of flavored tea later in my shift tonight.

Re: Long Jing
ooo I like that glass. Looks like the the middle part is hollow so the liquid is floating inside the glass.

It is as it appears. Bodum Pavina, 9 oz. Very popular on the forum, insulates great, not too pricey, and all-around winner.Vulture wrote: ooo I like that glass. Looks like the the middle part is hollow so the liquid is floating inside the glass.

Can we have another category?
I vote none of the above. Flowers belong in my garden, vegetables on my plate. Lapsang is the only smoky one I like but not for every cuppa. Fruity? Like in flavored teas or the apple-ish in one tea whose name I cannot recall?
nope, none of the above. I am a peasant.

Jeanne - I never met a tea pot I didn't like.
Given that I think that I have only had experience with 'grassy,' so far, that's what I picked.
I'm sure I've had some teas with those other attributes, but I never consciously called them that, so at this point, I don't know whether they're really a draw for me a not.
Does anybody have recommendations (like the mention of the Long Jing being nutty and vegative) for teas with these attributes? I think it'd be a good way to calibrate my brain with my tongue ("oh, that's what they mean by vegative") -- I mean, I know what it means in the technical sense, but I'd like to have proof in the practical sense.
Dragonwell with my oatmeal and raisins.

floral, grassy, and vegetal seems to be qualities that I gravitate toward.
I like 'toasty' brews too. Some oolongs have this quality. I guess it doesn't count as 'smokey' but is a thing unto itself
Had some HibikiAn shincha this morning and followed up with a nice bowl of matcha.
Have a wonderful sunday everyone!
