Xmas tasting...

by Geekgirl » Oct 29th, '08, 21:06

Okay guys, I may be jumping the gun just a bit here (sorry partner-in-crime chamekke,) the Matcha Queen and I have decided that House blend chai would be an appropriate choice for the holiday season tasting.

We are going with a local company (to me,) here in Portland called Tea Chai Te. They sell online, so if you get something you like, you will be able to acquire more.

There will probably be three different blends in each sampler. We've got a budget for 25 people. Open to overseas from US. If less people sign up, it will just mean bigger samples.

"Choices" will include:

Traditional
Spiced Vanilla
Caramel Creme Brulee
Pumpkin Spice Chai
Tra Que Chai

(subject to availability)

You can read about them here, if you are inclined.

We will try to include samples of 3 different chai in each package. In the spirit of the season, it will be a random selection. However, if there is ONE blend you think you MUST try, please say so, and I'll do my best. ;)

I need to place my order by the second week of November in order to have enough time for a quantity order, so the cutoff date will be November 10th.

Hit it! 8)

P.S., if anyone has a massive stockpile of the little foil bags, and they would like to contribute some to a worthy cause, I could use a few. I have a lot, but not quite enough, and would otherwise probably need to order some for this tasting.

ohh... great idea.

Can I play?

I've had a few chai's from a local tea house this week as the weather has gotten bitterly cold here. I've been retraining by chai palate, it gets a little dull over the summer months.

Picked up the chai today. Any last minute "i'm ins?" I've got enough for a few more people. I'm hoping to send everything out sometime mid-late week.

Okay Hop, you're in. I divided up the spoils just now. With fewer people I added a little more to each sample. I still have a bit of the Pumpkin Spice left, so if anyone wants in after right now, that's the only one I still have. :)

I'll try to get these mailed by mid-week, so it will be hot on the heels of the gyokuro tasting, :P and hopefully a tiny gap before "secret santa."

I'll post blend descriptions and brewing instructions later in the week.
