Sunday TeaRoom TeaDay 11/02/08 TeaChat monikers?

by Chip » Nov 1st, '08, 09:36

Welcome everyone to a TeaRoom TeaDay. I hope you can stop by often and share what is in your cup.

Yesterday responders indicated they had more teas than pots, cups and tins combined. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Bonus topic for the day, is there a new tea you plan to try this month?

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. The monikers that we use have found their way to the forum, The Dark Side, Tea of the Oolongonians, Join the Green Tea Collective. The gang in pu-erh is discussing a moniker for them as well. White tea/yellow tea has been like teflon, nothing has stuck.

Anyway, should the names stay or go ... from the title of each on the forum? The names have been a good source of banter and could still be used within the forum regardless. I think they convey the good, fun nature of the forum.

I am looking forward to sharing our TeaRoom with everyone, bottoms up!

Monikers don't matter much to me. Like you said, it's all in fun.

I have no plans to try anything new this month. I got in a large order from Upton's the other day with some samples from them, but already tried them. Maybe I better edit myself- I do have two samples from Adagio in the Zodiac series that I hadn't tried yet. I'm sure I'll get to them before the month is out...

Puerh shop's Mini Bricks this morning at work.

+1

I will try new teas this month.
I ordered three new teas in october: kuradashi SP gyokuro (if the package eventually arrives), 2005 Spring Wuyi Zheng-yen "Bai Ji Guan" and 2007 Spring Zhen-Yen Handcrafted "Rou Gui".
I will also try the new teas from Adagio and also a Lui An and a Long Jing.

This morning Keemun with my breakfast.

No real opinion on the Monikers. As long as there is a pu forum, I'm happy.

As for trying new teas this month, I'll be trying many new teas this month. My plan is to get through my ever growing supply of samples.

Currently drinking blackberry iced. Just felt like something fruity and cold for once.

Good morn everyone! Great day for a TeaDay...we got an xtra hour of sleep!!!
Macha this am w/Keemun 2 follow.

I personally like the monikers, as a newbie {and this could be the operative phrase}it is appealing and inviting, & especially it is encouraging to someone who does not know alot abt tea to see that this forum is not stuffy 8) . Kinda like it invites newbies to post and intereact, without feeling uncomfortable due to lack of teaknowledge.

No standoffish feelings here, just lots of levity and fun along with the vast amount of knowledge that we can tap into. Why not have some fun with it?

Let the monikers stay! : :D 8)

Nice picture (as always) Salsero!
I like very much the yunomi. In fact, I have used it quite everyday for sencha and gyokuro since I got it!

I like the nicknames. As Shelob says, the fun names may be encouraging to new members who may be ovewhelmed by the vast amount of of information on brewing styles, types of tea, and unfamiliar teaware terms.

New tea--yes. I just got in a sample set with yunnan jig, yunnan noir, keemun rhapsody, oolong #40, keemun encore, golden spring, fujian barogque, and a free sampler of sagiattarius tea. My evening are going to be fun for a while!

Everyone have a great tea day!

Beautiful picture, as always, Salsero!

I am trying a "new to me" tea as we speak -- Adagio's pouchong. Right now it's reminding me more of a green. . .

either way is ok to me.

Is it end of daytime saving yet? My calendar says so but the forum time is still daytime saving time.

I am having my last bit of 2007 huang shan mao feng, which was left in a corner unnoticed for a long time. This tea lasts long! It's still not bad after 1.5 years :D

I think the monikers are cute, personally. Shelob's right.

I'm definitely trying new teas this month. This week I'll be ordering a few new things from TeaSource, plus I still have samples from Sarah and Victoria to go through.

I think I'm going to try a new tea right now, actually. As soon as I finish reading TeaChat I'll brew myself a gift sample...

The monikers are fun, different, OK by me either way. Maybe they will spark a little more forum posting?? If so that would be a good thing.

As for new teas; yes, yes, yes. I plan on trying all the new Adagio offerings this month.

Yes, keep the monikers. I might try pu just to be a "supreme beeng!"

I will be trying new teas this month as Victoria set me up with a bunch of samples to try. This morning I'll be sampling the Tao of Tea Nilgiri Neela. I'm expecting it to be very good!

Oh I am brewing up one of yours Geeber, too.

The TeaSource Nilgiri Tamil Nadu Blend.

Yikes! It's very dark at 1 minute! I only went 3, wow it's very dark.
This is the darkest tea I've brewed in quite awhile - but then the leaves
are particles/CTC.

Not bad, not great, reminds me of a typical orange pekoe. Maybe a tad
smoother and less astringent. Good enough to get me started on my
busy day!
