My partially-realized dream is gongfu on a student budget. Tea is cheaper than beer; collecting yixing is not. It is, unfortunately, just as addicting.
I've learned much about my new hobby through Adagio and by lurking in this community for a few weeks. Looks like a fun bunch of forum-goers, and—more importantly—a great way to find out how I can spend even *more* money I don't have on tea and teaware I don't even *need.*
Yup. I can't wait!

I'm actually kind of glad this desire to learn and sample more tea didn't come until I got my job. If I spend this much in school? Ouch. I'm right now trying to hold off on buying some oolong tea since I just bought a whole assortment of other loose teas and need to practice some discipline.
It's cool to find a student into tea though.
I got made fun of quite a bit by my boozehound friends when they caught me with my Earl Grey. Oh well, my liver could take their livers on any day.

Hey! Another Haligonian! Yay for tea drinkers in Halifax!
And I know how you feel with the whole dorm room thing. I was doing that not too long ago. You will rejoice upon graduation. I guarantee it.
Do you buy your tea and tea things here in Halifax?

I believe drinking tea makes me a better artist. But hey, I also believe I'm completely sane.
I was just having that conversation with myself. A bottle of wine doesn't go nearly as far as a tin of tea. But spending time on this forum is going to have me spending more $ on tea than I ever did on wine. This afternoon I was planning on hitting the new local tea house and I hope I can convince myself to be good.Tea is cheaper than beer...
