I have had a Teachat account for a little while now, but don't post too much. I found the place through google alerts. Almost all of the hits for various tea words come from somewhere on Teachat. I have been invited to introduce myself, and finally referred to as a lurker in one post(no offence taken, but I am reminded of golum skulking around and it amuses me) so I decided it was time to take the plunge.
My name is Will and I'm originally from Massachusetts, but I live in China. I am currently teaching English in Wenzhou University. Wenzhou prefecture is a tea producing area. I'm sure all green tea lovers have heard of Taishun's SanBeiXiang, WuNiuZao and YanDang MaoFeng

I am a big fan of reading in general, especially about tea. In University my major was Chinese Language and Literature, and I have lived in China for almost 3 years if you add up all the time I've spent here. I am also a fan of other aspects of Chinese culture besides tea. Especially Taoism, qi gong, Classical Chinese, Xuanxue, poetry, the list goes on. I also like Chinese dialects and dialectology.
Living in (this part) of China is not actually the tea paradise you might imagine. The locals have a limited tea palate, and many fine teas are not available in local shops. However, I don't make a habit of bemoaning my fate and often take tea vacations to areas which produce my favourite teas (gone to Wuyi so far, hopefully going to Chao'an this winter).
I like all kinds of Quality teas, especially Yancha, Dancong Oolong, Taiwan Oolongs, Sheng Pu'er. I love fine green teas too, but now is not really the season for them.
