Changing the world one cup at a time!
A buddy of mine stopped by this morning for a workout and I introduced him to some good quality loose leaf. He liked the smell of the Lapsang so we brewed a pot. I put together a care package (
) of sencha and pu-erh, tossed in some thistle and mate for good measure.

Yay!! I shared a Nilgiri with a workmate on Friday - she was very impressed.

did you say stickman fighting?engar wrote:Which kind of stickfighting JM? Take care of your hands mate
Do something different, something different will happen. ( Gong Fu Garden )
In 2003 we started making and practicing with shillelaghs, 04 we started using regular canes that we made of hickory with some self-defence detailing similar to the canes found on Cane Masters but we've backed off the fancy crooks, etc. and focus on simple elegant walking canes. We've also done some Arnis with a local Arnis instructor and a few different seminars over the years.engar wrote:Which kind of stickfighting JM? Take care of your hands mate
As a foundation I use The Walking Stick Method for all strikes and blocks. It would be nice to have a gentleman's gather where would sip some tea and do a little cane work...someday...
Do you practice martial arts?
Peace,
j
PS: The crook of the cane protects the hand a good bit of the time.

We used to play with bo staffs, escrimas, and canes when I was into martial arts. I had a nice 6ft rattan bo staff and my father had a set of rattan canes similar to these ones. They were a lot of fun to play with. I liked the rattan better than the hard woods since not only was it lighter, but it hurt less when I accidentally hit myself (or my sparring partner) with them. Not to mention, canes are the only legal weapon that can be carried without any problems on an airplane. Good times.

I practice boxing and arnis. In fact one of my arnis training partners introduced me to the wonderful world of tea.

Anything can be a weapon if wielded as such. No need to take a stick when you can as easily use sharpened plastic or bone knives. Easily get through a metal detector that way as long as your not randomly strip searched. But even more basic things like pens or other objects can be used. Not to mention the most dangerous weapon of all... yourself.engar wrote:Thanks for the link J.
