by cheaton » Nov 11th, '08, 18:19

I thought this was strange. There's a picture of a Yixing teapot on thefront page of Starbucks' website. http://www.starbucks.com

Yikes, just imagine if they started doing to tea what they did to coffee.

I left that statement intentionally interpretable in any direction :D

but if Starbucks start with the tea thing I'll have to find something far more obscure to be obsessive about, or will I just feel even more superior. Hmmm

I work at Starbucks and I can tell you that we most certainly aren't selling any Yixing pots. We've picked up an assortment of Bodum double-walled glass mugs and cups, and have packaged some of the Tazo tea bags into a wooden box, but that's about as far as promoting tea go.

P.S. I still have my soul and I don't enjoy eating babies...yet

When its displayed on the stabucks site it no longer is an Yixing pot... thats the new patented "Starbucks® Coffee Warming Decanter™!

Sadly, I have a long way to go before my addiction for coffee is surpassed by my new addiction for tea. So I cant make too much fun at coffee products. :)

They would have to steep their tea one hell of a long time to get it to match the bitterness of their coffee.

All they would have to do is brew Sencha with boiling water.

I am thinking a cool web designer who maybe practices gong fu put it in there for us peeps to catch. :D Like a secret code to let us know tea really reigns supreme, while the corporate big wigs are oblivious to the secret message!!!!

Either that or some clueless web designer thought "Oh what a cute coffee pot!" and put it right there on the front.

But I like your version better. :D
