Yahoo TW auctions have some as well. I've found stuff under '銀壺' (as in silver pot). The term orguz mentioned brings up some stuff also.

This user has a lot of them.

Hou De has a few nice ones, though it will cost you around $1500-$2k.

The item you linked to is a COPPER kettle PLATED with silver.

I have a silver kettle. I like it. I haven't had time to use it much recently though.

Why is silver good?
I have a pot that I don't know if it's silver or tin pewter. Is there any way that I can tell?

When I saw the price, that already hinted it couldn't be 100% sterling silver.

I think it depends on whether it's a genuine antique, fake antique, or new, how ornate it is, and also depends whether it's pure silver or not.

My guess is that, for a used silver kettle, on the auction sites and such, it should be at least $600-800 (US) at the lower end, but prob. more like $1200-2000. I asked a local antique dealer who sells Japanese furniture and some tea stuff, and he said he sometimes gets them in... the aproximate prices he gave me were roughly in line with those. Getting one from a stateside dealer that you trust will probably cost more than finding one online, but it could also help avoid problems, and also eliminates the need for some sort of proxy / intermediary to deal with payment.

By the way, there are some other silver items you can find that look like kettles and can function as a kettle -- sake warmers, larger pots made for actually brewing tea.

Silver pots need to be treated pretty nicely - no heating over an open flame of any sort, empty out of water with each use. Also, the pots and handles can get very, very hot, so care needs to be used, especially if the handle isn't well insulated.

The description says right there that it's a copper pot with silver plating.

A regular looking, not very heavy silver kettle probably runs around the $700-900 range, depending on the exchange rate, etc

A nice one can run up to about $1500. Rarely more... it has to be REALLY ornate and flawless. Most run around or under $1000

The second one is really expensive at ca. 500g silver weight. Maybe because it is antique with tomobako?
