Welcome TeaChatters to TeaDay. Please share what is in your cup today, all day.
Yesterday most responders indicated they did not schedule their TeaTimes. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Again a suggestion by Eastree (where is that guy these days?) "Tea and Mood, drink for mood, or mood for drink?" This is going to be a mind bender I think. I am going to leave the interpretation up to each individual. Please share! Certainly tea and mood are related, how do they relate for you?
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Ha! Me either. Especially after working a 15 hour day, then having to go grocery shopping for Thanksgiving, and to top it off it's pouring down rain, and the supermarket parking lot was flooded - I am soaked and tired and NEED tea that I cannot have. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
So at this point the poll seems rather complex.
I'm off to bed, only to get up and do it all over again in 6 hours or so.
(Well not the shopping part) but still!!!

I drink to fit my mood. More so I just think 'what do I feel like drinking right now?'
Granted that could be a soda instead of a tea but whatever comes up, I go and have. I don't schedule to have tea sessions, I take to work a few teas that I will probably be in the mood for. When I am home I give little care to if something has caffeine or not but more of what I feel like drinking.
When it comes to enjoyment, its best to 'feel' things out. Have or do something that fits the best. Sunday night (my weekend still) I did over 14 hours of reading. It was probably one of the most relaxing days I have had in a while. To me, I think this is the key to enjoying yourself. There is no planning needed, no stress over preparation or waiting. Just the satisfaction of sating your spontaneous feelings at the time.
I wanted something fun to drink tonight so in my cup is Adagio Masala Chai mixed with warmed chocolate milk. I put in a Hersheys bite sized dark chocolate into the cup. It didn't do much for the drink but it was melted goodness after I finished the cup.

Waaaaaaay too deep for me right now, but right now it's undoubtedly the mood for tea or tea for mood or.........oh Helsinki, all I want is a hot cup of tea with my blank blank pain meds so I can go back to sleep a little while before having to get going again.
In my cup is a mixture of hot, spiced apple juice and Constant Comment tea (sneer all you want. I drink what I like). It's really rather lovely and yes, is a loose tea. Oh blast. The teapot is empty. (Should that be empTEA?)
BTW, for those looking for a great, non Zen, laugh, smile mug for someone special or cocoa mugs for the kids (me too, me too), look at this one at Bigelow.

It's a deep question, all right. I voted for 'drink for mood', because I tend to get in a good mood when I drink tea. Which is a nice bonus, since I would drink tea anyway.
The first brew of the day is Glendale Handmade Nilgiri, courtesy of Victoria (thanks!). The aroma faintly reminds me of a German riesling, with its fruity, floral notes. That's very exciting, I think. I'm going to brew up a couple of liters of this today, so my mood should be ecstatic by late afternoon.

I would say that drinking tea also usually gets me in "a good mood", but I think that is different to drinking tea for the sake of my mood. I drink tea whether high or low, I don't consider my tea consumption as a way of regulating my mood in anyway.Trey Winston wrote:It's a deep question, all right. Just finished two steeps of a blend of 4g of Hibiki-an Sencha Supreme with 1g of O-Cha's Gyokuro Sho-Un. First steep was mostly sencha with a gyokuro hint, but on the second the gyokuro flavour dominated, amazing!

Gong Fu Black
Tea usually makes me happier.
Orguz suggested I brew this Panyang Congou gong fu style - really perks up an average tea!

Karigane sencha to start the afternoon.
In my morning cup - a treat! Some of the Black Tea from the Hawaii Plantation I visited. I only had enough for one pot left and have been saving it for the right time. The last and only time time I had this tea it was in a tasting session with the plantation owner.
And if that isn't special enough, I cut myself a slice of pumpkin pie to go along.
A little Pre-Thanksgiving celebration, yum!
Have a nice day everyone!

Victoria, my local grocery had fresh-baked pumpkin pies on sale for $3 each when I went in the other day. I couldn't resist.
I chose "mood for drink" because my mood definitely influences what I feel like drinking.
Right now I'm having some Ceylon Sonata. It's odd to drink tea that tastes like standard tea after a week of nothing but Wuyi oolongs....

I agree, I would drink it anyway. It definitely is a mood adjuster in the morning. I am not a morning person. Tea elevates my mood throughout the day simply because it is enjoyable.Trey Winston wrote:It's a deep question, all right. I'm really glad you liked it Trey. It was a risky proposition sending Nilgiri across the Atlantic to a white tea lover. If anything could sway the notorious King of Whites - I figured it would be this Handmade. I've yet to find anyone who didn't enjoy it. I like the comparison to a German Riesling. I think you are dead on, thanks for adding that perspective. And a nice compliment to my German heritage. I guess need to send some of this to omegapd now.Trey Winston wrote:The first brew of the day is Glendale Handmade Nilgiri, courtesy of Victoria (thanks!). Ha! How's that workin' out for ya??el padre wrote:Other: No mood-tea connection for me. I drink tea for weight loss, immunity boosting, greater chance of promotion at work, to attract potential romantic partners, to become a better coder, and for self-actualization.
Ohhh yeah! No sense waiting till Thanksgiving and hoping there are leftovers!caligatia wrote:Victoria, my local grocery had fresh-baked pumpkin pies on sale for $3 each when I went in the other day. I couldn't resist.
