I know that we have a lot of different boards here already, but I feel like we end up answering the same questions over and over. It may be that an FAQ board of locked threads might be a good addition.
Thoughts?

I don't think its a bad idea, but here's a thought. I think that while it is repetitive, its this kind of talking that keeps the forum active, bringing in new people. When someone joins the forum, their questions may already have been answered, but I think they want to talk and post and meet people.

Interesting idea actually.
Of course they have to READ it. The problem is that many newer members post the questions/new topics first, never bothering to actually search first. A FAQ forum might make it a bit easier.
But then again, Space has a very good point as well. How I would answer this would depend on my mood perhaps.

Good points on both sides... I would hate to see us turn into the stereotypical angry board that berates a newbie for not using the search. That said, it does get kind of annoying to see the same questions posted over and over.
I think an FAQ is a good idea though; not everyone would use it, but maybe some would, and that would cut down on at least a little of the noise. Also, newbies often have other little questions along with the more common ones, so maybe an FAQ would just get them to ask the right questions?

Yeah we should! I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, now that I think about it.Salsero wrote:Speaking of snapping at people, do we need to invite Wyardley into the coven? He seems to be fielding an awful lot of these noobie and not-so-noobie questions.

I personally think that Wyardley is a douche. He is such tea snob. He totally turned one of my simple poll questions into a crisis!
I say piss on him but if you guys want him.

Don't always believe what you think!

+1, I have seen him turn several topics into turmoil with his somewhat condescending attitude. He gets called on it too. One topic, he got on someone for not searching pretty harshly. I have come close to "talking to him in earnest" either as a mod or not.hop_goblin wrote:I personally think that Wyardley is a douche. He is such tea snob. I think he is knowledgable and likes to share, his posts are in depth and often very informative, but I am not ready to embrace him yet. He needs time in order to show me he can get along.
Just sayin'.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
Oh Yeah, I remember that debacle.hop_goblin wrote:I personally think that Wyardley is a douche. He is such tea snob. He totally turned one of my simple poll questions into a crisis!I say piss on him but if you guys want him.
He's been abrupt/snobbish with me too.
I can forgive him, but he seems a bit volatile.
Maybe with a little more time ...

Oh, and another thing, back to the original topic. Even if its the same ole subject, new threads can bring in fresh opinions and information. I think an FAQ is a good idea, and it would certainly help, I would simply like to see the forum remain open to those who still ask the questions. When I got here, I was so excited to have other people to talk about tea with. Reading a FAQ wouldn't have been the same.
Care to elaborate?Space Samurai wrote: ... but I don't do tea snobs, and there's enough of that going around on the forum, right now...
