Welcome everyone to TeaDay, please share what is in your cup today, all day.
Yesterday responders were pretty split on whether their tea/teaware shopping has increased now that it is December. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's TeaDay.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Speaking of shopping and the season, have you ever been given the "Tea(related)Gift that you would never ever ever use" (aka, the Tea(related)Gift from hell) and regift it? 'fess up!
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Haiwan 9908 "Lao Cha Tou" Old Nugget Puerh Tea Bri
I have received the useless gift, but I have not foisted it upon my fellows.
In RE Haiwan 9908, I quote:
Sorry, Sarah, you can’t expect everything in a single tea.

While i've gotten a few of those tea gifts that make you go "... um thanks..." and put it aside, in the name of not fully wasting tea I did use most of it (i've still got some unidentified oolong sitting around).
Didn't have the gall to pass it off to someone else though. Figured it'd ruin my good teaname.

I said never, because I've never received tea as a gift. Loophole!
Would I regift? Only if somebody would enjoy it more than I would.
Actually now that I think about it, I was regifted TO. Somebody at work gave me a gift box of Tazo tea that they had received somewhere. Since I can only easily do bags at work, I've been slowly working through it. . .
Adagio Oolong #18 with breakfast.

Argh, morning. snarl. In my cup some good strong Irish Breakfast Blend and Mothra's snout, which I will remove. She is much too young for this tea. Godzilla ir in the bedroom so he won't get into my IBB.
I hate regifting with a passion most dire! With my birthday coming 5 days after Christmas, I always get the phrase "Of course this is for your birthday too."
Snarl. And every year a friend gives me the stuff her students have given her for Christmas, most of the time with the original tags enclosed.
So NO, I don't regift and won't. Now, if I found someone who loved what I was given, I would hand it over, but not dressed up as a present.
Growl.
But on the other paw, if someone here absolutely adores penguins and is given a figural cat teapot....hint.
Snarl. My teapot is empty.
PS: oh yeah. mint tea. I'm always given mint tea. I HATE mint tea. So if it comes from Wally World (Wal Mart), I take it back and get something useful. Bleah. Yuk. Ptooie.

Jeanne - I never met a tea pot I didn't like.
No, not for me. But this is my first full year as officially tea devoted. So my big chance will probably come this Christmas.
I agree with Pentox, I doubt I'd pass it on and ruin my "good teaname" as he puts it.
Can't sleep, need tea, but then I really won't sleep, ahhh the conundrum.
Alas.

My friend gave me a BAG of spearmint. While its not one of those 'bad' teas, its just way too much tea so it will probably be regifted...I don't know if this counts or not.
I think everyone has teas that are decent but not something they would drink over others. I have tons of samples now from adagio that are just sitting around...
Ha! Only to Omegapd my tea opposite. Not to mention he bugs me for them!!Vulture wrote:No but you can pass 'oh I thought you might like it' teasVictoria wrote:No, not for me. But this is my first full year as officially tea devoted. So my big chance will probably come this Christmas.

Unidentified tea.
I don't think so but I do have some unidentified tea.
Purchasing Teaware in Malaysia I was often given free samples from vendors who spoke insufficient English for me to determine what I was being given
Again, purchasingteaware online various teas have been sent gratis, unlabelled!
Having been bitten by the bug and learned that different teas require different brewing techniques, and then totally overordered from 6 or 7 tea suppliers, the mystery items remain unopened.

I don't give stuff that I don't like myself to others unless they express that they like in one way or another. I have given away tea when I've seen that I have a bit more than I have the time to use. People enjoying tea makes me happy for some reason. I really enjoy watching people see how good high quality tea is.
Darjeeling Jungpana second flush today as well. Then some Matcha when I get home from the gym.

I should have said Tea related gift!!!!
I received a weird big bunch of flavored teas from a home shopping network fan
, they would have sat forever so I did regift them sort of, just gave them away to some people who liked flavored tea, better than wasting it. If I received something that I knew I would never use, I would consider giving to someone I knew could either use the item or needed it.
I would not give away "garbage" however, nor a sentimental gift.
About to brew some Sencha Premium from Adagio I think. I wonder who will join me this morning.
Good TeaDay everyone.

My sister-in-law and brother once gave me a little tea set with three different teas. It was nice for a commercial kind of gift, but they were not teas I drink. (This may have been a hint that they saw my car constantly parked in front of a local tea importer - Chaikhana - when I visited their beach house!) Plus I didn't have room in my suitcase to take it. I told my mother she could use them and left them with her.
However, I've regretted this. I thought perhaps it would have been better to just take the gift even if I had to cram it in the suitcase and it sat in a closet at home unopened. It was thoughtful of them after all, and it might have shown them more clearly that I appreciated the thought (symbolically, anyway). Plus I have no control over what my mother might have told them

Yes, sometimes it's better to graciously accept it.
In my cup this morning Glenburn Estate Vintage Wiry. This is a stunning
Darjeeling from TeaSource. If you love Darjeeling and order from
TeaSource, you should give it a try.
If you don't like it, you can "regift" it to me.
Hahaha!
Have a nice day everyone!
