Hello and welcome everyone to TeaDay. Please share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday, more than 70% of responders indicated they would NOT be mixing alcohol with their tea! You can still vote and discuss yesterday's poll.
Today's TeaPoll and dicussion topic. What is your favorite motif for your teaware? Well, first, do you have one? And if so, what is it ...or what are your favoriteS? Forgive me if I forgot yours.
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

I don't think I have one ... as long as it can be photographed.
Kuradashi is gyokuro that has been aged. Like other gyokuro, it is brewed with much leaf and low temp water. The liquor is powerful and thick with umami. I can't really generalize since this is the only Kuradashi I have had and I have had only a few gyokuro, but this seems to be more mellow and a bit more subtle than the other gyo I have tried. Certainly it is more expensive! Thanks to Olivierco for this wonderful, generous sample.

In most cases I prefer plain - but if there is a motif I guess it would be cranes. I also am drawn to gingko. Oh and then there is the rice. Yeah with rice you can have plain and a design. I'll probably vote for rice.

I like plain stuff. But with a minimalist approach to decor.

I like some of those old English hunting scenes with the dogs, etc. but don't own any (yet). I look at Ebay and other places from time to time but hadn't found the right one.
Some sencha in my cup this morning...

Hrm, I don't really have a preference. I've got a mixture of gaiwans, and my tea glasses range from solid color to clear, to random mugs.
I've finished off the last of my jasmine oolong. I figured I would do that while I'm sick and can't taste anything.

I don't have one. Right now my tea is in a black cup with holly leaves and berries on it - christmas. It's actually one of my favorite mugs due to the shape and feel. It's smaller and it has one of the most nice feeling and comfortable handles. I probably head to shape, color and feel before I look at a motif. I love the uniqueness of hand made items.
Rishi Jasmine Green in my cup this morning. I like it and love the fact that it doesn't seem to get bitter on me, unless I sip it cold and then the green slightly bitter comes out.
I'm out of my monkey picked oolong and they were out of it and let me know after I got my order. Grr! If anyone has any ideas for some thing similar, I'd love to hear it.
I have been sneaking in some osthmanthus silver needle. It's a peachy/melony thing. It's nice but I wouldn't buy it again as I'm not big on fruity flavors. Perhaps it's more of a spring/summer item. Maybe iced? Hmmm. I need to try that!
Have a great tea day all!

My vote was for "single color" of course, but it is much more complicated.
My favorite motif is au natural.
Second favorite is Yohen, an ash "glaze."
I used to prefer only cups with white or near white glaze to judge the true color of the tea, but I am starting to agree with Stephane that light blue or green can enhance the color.

I don't have a motif! I just haven't gotten that involved with the "stuff".

My morning cup of loveliness was an Organic Nilgiri with Coconut. This black tea from India isn't one that I would drink on a daily basis, but it hit the spot today.
As much as I would like to stick to a general motif, tying all of my pieces together, I really can't. I have very specific tastes, but they vary from piece to piece. I also happen to like things eclectic. My kuro-raku does not go with my yixings at all, but I love them both.
