Sunday TeaRoom 12/21/08 Online shopping?

by Chip » Dec 21st, '08, 01:35

Welcome to the Cyber TeaRoom we call TeaDay/TeaChat. Please share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday, only 4 responders indicated Teavana was their "gateway vendor" for tea, this surprised me to say the least. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's discussion topic.

Today's TeaRoom Poll and discussion topic, could be a little off the subject of tea, or maybe not. What percentage of your holiday shopping was done online this year, and was this higher than last year? Are you done shopping?

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Is it time to start holiday shopping already?

Yellow leaves – even while the varietal is growing in the field – are characteristic of this tea from the Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian. Many thanks to Olivierco for sharing this magnificent chataku with me and to Chip for the fine rice pattern cup and saucer ... ooh, and Chamekke for the square bamboo chataku!

Shopping and My Cup

by Lainie P » Dec 21st, '08, 02:09

Most of my shopping was done offline, but some of my holiday celebrations are after the 25th, so there will likely be some online shopping as well!

Enjoying a cup of Kuki Matcha from the dreaded Teavana. Infused in my ingenuiTEA, though!

Most of my shopping is done online (I guess 90%). I don't specifically do holiday shopping because there is no need to wait the end of the year to offer gifts to your family.

Yunnan golden tips with my breakfast.

Almost purely online for me. I think I bought one thing in a store.

By the way if someone searches a kyuusu for left handed, Hibiki-an has just started to sell this one (360ml 12oz)

At least 80%. I think I actually went to town about 3 times to buy something.

Coffee night here. Been a rough one at work.

Online shopping is just too convenient.

I may never go into a store again.

The few presents I bought this year went straight to the recipients homes. I hope they had the patience/self control to wait until Christmas to open them.

Adagio's Golden Monkey in my cup this morning.

Probably 50-50 for me, between stores and online shopping.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

I do all my shopping online and have for several years now. It's not off topic for me, because I always have a nice cup of tea with me. Hey, maybe that's why I like it so much. And yes, I'm done shopping. Butttt, not everything has arrived.

I'm a major on-line shopper! It's just way to convenient and you don't have to deal with crowds or taking my young kids with me. When the gas prices were high, it made even more sense. I trip to my local Target would cost me about $8 in gas. Honestly, I shop more like a guy (get in, get out, no browsing) anyway. I usually find the best deals online. The things I don't buy online - clothes and shoes.

Adagio's sencha premier today. I like it brewed for 1 min or so. It's one of those that has grown on me. I think their directions are to long (3 min.), once I figured that out I liked it so much better.

Have a great Sunday all!

I do online shopping for most of all my shopping, holiday or non holiday :D Even for what I can get from the mall, I usually only go to the mall when I need to return or exchange something. I live in a small town. If in a large city, I would like to find the kind of organic coop that delivers vegetables to the door. Then I wouldn't need any "physical" shopping at all :D

Happy solstice day! Perfect day to have some warm tea :D

By the way - I have an update on my Tea Tray from Andao - speaking of online shopping!

On Friday at work I got a call from Rob Henrich one of the owners and founders of Andao. He said he had been reading our Board and was shocked and embarrassed when he read that I had received a used tray. He profusely apologized and said my tray was one that had been used for tastings and should not have made its way back into inventory.

I wanted to post the update here as this is where I originally posted of the tray arriving used: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?p= ... ains#77359

A brand spanking new tray is on the way to me along with a nice gift basket with a selection of their teas. I was very surprised and very pleased, especially since I never bothered with the complaint letter. It also shows lots of people are reading our Board!

Thank you Andao.
