What are your opinions on the Golden Moon tea company?
Someone recommended Golden Moon teas to me a few months ago, and I was wondering what your opinions are on this company's teas.
I recently decided to permanently change my eating habits, along with getting more exercise to improve my overall health. I've been consuming less food, and have been more active, so I've noticed that I feel hungry quite often if there is no liquid in me. I've found that tea has been great for keeping me feeling full.
Anyway, I want to buy a large quantity of tea (at least half a pound) so that I can brew at least six cups of tea a day. I'm not sure if Golden Moon teas are highly acclaimed teas or not, but a couple of their teas won at the World Tea Expo (one placed 1st, and another 2nd).
I was surprised to see that there is hardly any mention of Golden Moon teas on this website. Why is that? Are they not a very well-known company, or what?
If someone could let me know your opinions about Golden Moon teas in general, or a Golden Moon tea that you enjoy or have tried, please let me know.
Thanks.
Hm, to me Golden Moon is another on a very LONG list of general vendors. And it takes a while to really give a vendor it's paces (and money). Personally golden moon is on my list to try out, but it's a few vendors down the line.
What kind of teas do you like drinking? If you know what kind you like we can probably point you to a wonderful specialized vendor. Not necessarily saying it would be better than Golden Moon, but would probably have a better selection of a specific genre.

I wouldn't order from them since they have mostly flavoured/scented teas and not a lot of teas that seem to be high quality. They woon at the tea expo, yes, but with the best ice tea, which doesn't say much about their usual tea. To me, it is not trustworthy to sell something called only "Puerh" or "White tea" without giving more information. That is like selling "White Whine" or "Red Whine" with no more information. I wanna know if it's shu, sheng, baimudan, yinzhen... but I'm not sure if this is of any use to you. I think if you want flavoured tea of not-so-high quality, you could order from Golden Moon as well as anywhere else, but some places have a little better sortiment than then. Personally I would rather go for Adagio in that case.
The noise comes from the other side of the mirror

I suspect that when a site sounds like a propaganda machine as theirs does, most of this crowd is not interested in wading through the mumbo jumbo.
As was stated by another member, the white tea with no name example is another reason most of us won't go there, we need more product info and less GM propaganda as to why we should buy GM tea.
I simply have no desire to shop there ...

Most people here buy tea from higher end vendors that specialize in the teas that we drink
Vendors like Golden Moon seem to specialize mostly in flavored teas and such. So I'm sure that they have good flavored teas, and probably black teas, but it's likely that the others are pretty mediocre.
One of the signs of a knowledgeable and specialized vendor is whether they stick to the original naming conventions and how much information. Vendors that don't are generally appealing to the mass markets in the west that are not familiar with those teas, and so there's not much need to carry the high quality specialty teas or provide much specific information. After all, the western masses are mostly interested in flavored and black teas, and are generally somewhat familiar enough with the names of black teas that they don't need (or want) a lot of specific background information.
If you like them, however, then there's no need to change away from what you like. If you want to branch out into the fancier white, green, or oolong teas, then stick around and check out the respective forums - people here will be more than happy to point you to some great stuff
(Just note that most of the green tea drinkers here prefer Japanese greens - so if you are interested in the Chinese green teas then you will want to specify.)
