Friday TeaDay 1/02/2009 First tea of the year?

by Chip » Jan 2nd, '09, 00:26

Happy January 2nd. :D Welcome to TeaDay. Please share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday responders indicated a wide range of activities for the New Years Day. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is from Pentox. What was your first tea of the new year. Please share specifically what is was, and what was the significance if any of the choice.

As always, I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

My first tea was a Green: Pi Lo Chun from Adagio

I got my UtiliTEA kettle for christmas so now its easy for me to make greens and whites. To play with it more I felt like trying to brew a green from my 'to try' box. No special 'I want this to be my first tea of the year'. Just one more new tea to take out of the 'to try' box.

I continued drinking pu as we crossed the line into the new year last night ... but the first that I started in the new year was Huang Jin Gui, Golden Osmanthus, an Anxi Oolong, and here it is with an Oriental Magnolia winter bloom.

Congrats on first post, Vulture!

Victoria ... was it bad?

My first tea of the year was a black also, an organic Nilgiri from TeaSource. It was only so-so. Hopefully things will improve as the year goes on!

No, not bad. Just not significant as my first tea of 2009.
Gotta watch out for those milestones. Kinda hard to do
when you're not a morning person.

Geesh good thing it wasn't coffee.

A pear flavored White tea with breakfast this morning. Like V, if I had known I was going to get asked about it, I would have picked something more exciting. In reality, I just wanted to use up the one and only teabag that was left of it.

I never really thought of a specific tea to drink for the new year. I ended up trying a Yunnan Gold because I haven't had it in a while.

I will have my first "new" tea of the new year later on today when I open a bag of fukamushi sencha superior from Hibiki-an.

Yunnan Gold this morning.

Happy Friday everyone!

Any day drinking tea is special....! I say that because I, too, wasn't thinking about making it milestone-y in any way. I stuck with pu-erh yesterday. A shu.

This morning, however, I'm trying out Adagio's fujian baroque. It's got an interesting flavor behind the "black" that my tongue can't seem to identify. . .

As I've been sick the past few days I haven't really had any tea in the technical sense, although I've been drinking Throat Coat a few times a day. Licorice is so soothing sometimes.

I plan on drinking actual tea today, maybe a Keemun...or a Mangalam Assam...sooo good!
