Welcome TeaFriends to TeaDay. Please share what is in your cup with us today.
Yesterday, most responders said at least maybe they had purchased tea based upon an appealing name. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. TeaPeeves, do you have some really irritating things that occur at times in the routine enjoyment of tea? See the poll for some possibilities, or contribute your own. Please share and feel free to RANT today.
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up!

CNNP 2005 Yellow Label brewed
Knowing a tea is good and not being able to brew it right. Sencha is the biggest problem here for me ... what's worse is when I brew it badly 5 times, then have one fireworks session but can never repeat it. I'm sure there is a circle in Dante's hell for this experience.
On the other hand, if I could hit perfection every time I brewed sencha, I'd probably drift into a sencha-induced, ambitionless fog for the rest of my life, staring vacantly into space and counting the seconds till the next hit.
Puerh, on the other hand, is pretty manageable ... not nearly as finicky as oolongs and sencha. Here is the brewed tea from the puerh cake in yesterday’s photo.

I haven't actually had a lot of these things happen to me. I imagine the most disappointing would be finding a re-order of tea was not as good the last batch I had. It's a combination of doubt (was it really like this? I didn't think so) and loathing (oh and I have so much of it left now. . .)
Trying out a sample of 2008 Yong Pin Hao this morning, from 100-200 year old trees. Those are youngins compared to the supposed 千年古茶 (thousand-year) that I've seen claimed elsewhere....

"A tea that was so good, and you forced yourself NOT to rush through, ironically goes stale."
Yep. I am trying out a popular food grad vacuum sealer on some Ali Shan - I split it 3 ways and threw it into the TeaFridge. It didn't seem to crush the leaf too badly, but it definitely removed the air and gave a good seal.
Similar to Drax's option, I hate when you look to reorder a tea (or finally jump on the bandwagon with the latest "it" tea) only to find it is sold out for good.

I should have read the full list first. I do this as well...Trey Winston wrote:Distracted while brewing. This happens at least once a week for me, and I have no one to blame but myself. I'm easily distracted.
Non-distracted SN to start the day today.
Just now I overbrewed my cinnamon tea and pored it into the cup I was using as a sunflower seed shell recepticle. Not good. I am making a second steep now, hopefully the promise of caffeine will keep me awake.

You need to fix this today.Selaphiel wrote: Finishing my Gyokuro Kame-Giru Shi now which makes me out of Gyokuro, that is scary indeed.

Honestly, this list of options is not my personal TeaPeeves.

But my numero uno is waking up to dirty teaware ... and having to clean/wash it before brewing my first cup of the day. It is starting the day off badly.
A close second is reordering a very good tea and being terribly disappointed with the reorder. This used to happen frequently with certain vendors I no longer deal with.
I woke up to clean teaware I washed right before going to bed last night, a good start to the TeaDay.

Now that is a real downer!!! Glad the next steep was better. Something I found helps an oversteeped tea, adding more water after the fact. I am usually too bull headed to do it though, prefering to remain in denial that I may have overbrewed something.kongni wrote:I gotta say, overbrewing tea is a big bummer. I actually just did it this morning with some premium gyokuro.![]()
Drinking gyokuro right now. The second steep came out just fine!

Last nights mugi/genmai is just now back in my cup. Next tea coming up soon.
