Monday TeaDay 11/12/09 Brrrrr, more tea?

by Chip » Jan 12th, '09, 00:21

Welcome to TeaDay, everyone. Please share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday, more voters felt they were introverted than extraverted by a wide margin. The discussion was interesting, pretty many had taken "personality type tests." I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to take such a test to do so. I found it very revealing for me along with some surprises that in hindsight make a lot of sense. I think you will be surprised by the results as well, but the tests and scores help to understand yourself and may shatter some self perceptions.

You can of course still vote ad discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Brrrrrr, really cold weather coming over the next week for much of the USA. Will your teaware be working overtime to help keep you warm this week regardless where you live or your current climatic conditions? Discuss any tea plans for the week, and will you be brewing "so called warmer teas" such as blacks, pu-erh? Please share.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

I really do feel a lot of sympathy for those of you up north. As for me, no change.

Here is a bone for my good friend Brandon, who doesn’t care for bright colors.:D

oooh, I LOVE your photo for the day! Lovely, especially the little blue cup.

I'll probably adjust my tea habit this week, as I didn't drink much tea at all this week. Way too much coffee and my tummy is protesting.

This evening I'm enjoying a bit of fukamushi sencha maki. Very good!

I'm so used to the cold and snow by now that my habits won't change at all. Unless it gets really really cold, then maybe ;).

Had some TKY tonight, then probably having some Houjicha in the morning.

The weather should be pretty nice over here in Las Vegas, so I don't think I will be drinking any more tea than usual.

First ever cup of houjicha at my lips right now. Interesting taste...

Not changing, just having tea when I feel like it as usual.

Drinking Twinnings Lady Gray. (was lazy about brewing and also wanted to try it)

No changes here, at least on the home-front. It's often frigid cold at work, so I'll grab a cup of tea from time to time to keep me warm there.

Trying a sample of 2006 Mengku Mu Shu Cha. First infusion has a solid yellow color, but the taste is pretty mellow. Perhaps my rinse wasn't long enough to break up the major chunk I put in my teapot. We shall see as the morning progresses....

mmmmm hot beverage. In conjunction with the chilly weather, I'll be brewin more to make up for lost tea time over the weekend-- I just got back from out of town for 4 days in a crappy hotel room. All I had for hot water was the in-room coffee maker... yuck.

As for what I'll drink first this morning... I think I will have...some Wuyi Ensemble.

Side note: anyone run the Disney 5k/Half/Full this past weekend?

My inclination is to say "yes" to the poll question, because I love hot beverages when it's really cold. But, realistically, I'm not sure I can drink much more tea than I already do on a daily basis. Maybe more hot than cold? But no, really, I do that already. My types of tea I drink in a day are also already very diverse, so I don't expect that to change either.

So maybe my tea habits won't be any different, but I'll enjoy it in a different way because of the weather.

In my cup this morning, Oolong #8.. it was calling my name when I woke up. I have some mugi/genmai/sencha cold-brewing in the fridge for later.

Oh, and Sal... I *love* that picture... your photos are always nice, but I really love that composition. Is that your reflection in the glass pitcher? :D

I'm needing some teawares, you people are killing me! Love that blue cup. Loved the Hagi set posted yesterday. Loved that funky kyusu of Victoria's. Loved Wesli's new yixing. Lusting for the celadon. You people are expensive friends. And I am running out of cabinet space.

Things are calming down a bit here enough that I almost jumped it yesterday. Hope to chat again soon!

That's actually a photographic umbrella. My own glow is much softer.

Cold weather doesn't affect me, so no change for me either.

This morning I finished brewing yesterday's Zheng-Yen Shui Xian.

Right now there is Huang Shan Mao Feng in my cup.

I already adjusted my tea drinking habit due to the cold weather. Like usually, I don't walk out of the house with a thermos of brewed tea. Now, I do because it helps warm my hands when I'm walking to the car. When I get into work, I also brew another cup - which is my usual routine of just brewing a cup when I get into work. So we're talking an extra cup in the morning and an extra cup in the evening when I leave out of work to go home.

More tea drinking due to cold weather indeed.

This morning, started with alishan and now having matevana.
Tea tea tea... I like tea...
