Hey guys,
I got some of adagio's masala chi for Xmas, and the smell and taste seems to linger on the IngenuiTEA. What is the recommended way of cleaning it? and should i be cleaning it often, I've never cleaned it besides rinsing it out.
Back in the day when I used mine daily, I would run it through the dishwasher - top shelf. The lid snaps off with a twist, and you can pull out the filter and put it in a secure holder for the wash too.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I had the same thing happen with Lapsang Souchong... that is a difficult odor to get rid of, let me tell you! What finally worked was baking soda and warm water left to sit and soak overnight. The filter finally gave up the aroma with that treatment.

This is pretty much what I do, but I also put about 1-1/2 inches of hot water in the sink with a drop or two of bleach so that the underside of the IngenuiTEA gets clean as well.boywoodie wrote:I use a very little bit of bleach, dishwashing liquid and hot water. I let it soak for about 3-5 mins then wash and rinse with hot water. I then put it in the diswasher to get rid of the bleach smell. It works for me and my tea taste great every time.
Ingenui Teapot
I just got my Ingenui Teapot. It seems to be hard to get the tea out after brewing. Any hints on how to do this?
I scoop out as much as I can with a spoon and then rinse out the few leaves that are left. I did discover, though, that tea leaves weren't very good for my disposal
so if there are any big leaves or bits in the sink I pick them out of the sink and put them in the garbage can. The smaller leaves I just wash down the drain.

I use my IngenuiTEA multiple times daily, I rinse it out between uses, run it in the dishwasher every now and then, and the baking soda treatment left overnight get the toughest spots out.
As far as getting leaves out, like was already said, scoop as much out as you can, then just rinse out the rest.

Don't know about the older Ingenuitea, the filter on the one I have is jut snapped into the bottom, and just pulls out pretty easy from the top.
Update: I've been running boiling water through my Ingenuitea after I get the leaves out each time, and this keeps smells from building up. My filter is stained, that's permanent seeming, but I am getting build up on the sides of my Ingenuitea. We have a water softener then a really nice filtration system on the tap that I get my water from, and I've noticed with my new Ingenuitea at another house that lacks those that it is also getting that buildup after much use. The only thing I can think of is that it comes from the tea. A little scrubbing seems to do the trick, but I'd like something that would be quicker for daily use, and just have to scrub every now and then.
Any thoughts?
I'll keep you posted...
