Welcome TeaFriends to TeaDay, please share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday, most responders indicated no rhyme or reason to the last tea of the day. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic, we will likely follow this theme for a few days. How many tea vendors will you likely use in 2009, a guestimate? Will they be tea/country specific? Care to share?
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.
Look for an announcement about a new contest just in time for the Chinese New Year!

Traditional roast Dong Ding oolong
I suppose 2009 will be about the same as 2008, so I guestimate 7 to 10.
I brewed up this little sweetheart earlier this evening ... very relaxing. "Traditional" in the world of oolong usually means some degree of roast as opposed to the more recent trend for certain teas to be made very green.

Mmmm, maybe the integrated but distinct colors of this leaf are a good symbol of this the inaugural day of our first black president.

This is a tough one for me......I usually stick with O-cha and Hibiki-an as the "go-to" source along with a friend in Japan who will send me teas when I order other products from him..........I would say these are my 3 main vendors, but I like to try Jap. greens from Asian markets if it is under 10$ for 100g.......and I have probably visited more than 10 Asian markets and picked up some form of Sencha in the last year and I imagine I will do the same thing this year....but I dont know if I would classify them as vendors.......more often than not then tea is very average but I have been pleasantly suprised on a few occasions and found a few great mixers for homeade genmai-cha......the others that dont fair so well usually end up as cold brews.

Since I am rather new, I will probably stick to a few choice vendors, unless of course a 'new' vendor has something I just can't find amongst my normal haunts. I am also a rather big coffee fan ( yeah! oh no, coffee! ), and espresso in particular. I do love my lattes. Anyway, this is tea chat not coffee chat. Judging by my coffee vendor list ( which is a very short and select one ). I will most likely end up using a similar short and select list for my tea purchases.
I am currently drinking a nice cup of Yunnan Gold from Adagio.

Probably 4-6 for me. O-Cha and Hibiki-An for Japanese greens and TeaCuppa, Jing Tea Shop and HouDe for oolongs.
Salsero, your legged yixing from yesterday is gorgeous. Where did you get it from?
En Shi Lu Yu (steamed chinese green) in my cup right now. It's really delicious when brewed properly. I don't always succeed with it at work, where I can't measure water temperature and don't have scale.

What parameters are you using for this Ritva? I've got some of this is cold store and will probably open it tomorow.Ritva wrote: En Shi Lu Yu (steamed chinese green) in my cup right now. 11-15 vendors this year, mainly from Jing Tea Shop and Hou de but also from our sponsor, Adagio, and from some local vendors. I am still learning about tea and that's why I'm buying from so many vendors. After I am more seasoned I will probably settle down to 7-10 vendors.
Tie Luo Han in my cup this morning, followed by a Zao Bei Jian congou.

I chose 7-10. I'm having such fun exploring the really good tea- I can get rishi at my local store
Later today I'm going to place an order from O-cha (big splurge at this time for me but I'm going to do it) Lupicia, Adagio, and maybe Enjoyingtea (I have a 15% coupon that is calling me). I also would love to try more pu.
