Tea quiz

by Jayaratna » Jan 20th, '09, 06:47

It's raining, but it's not cold. A southern wind is blowing on my windows, coming from the sea, close by. It's my rest day, and I make my tea. I feel vapors from my cup are one with the water which is raining outside, as if all was drowning in a warm ocean. It moistens my face. Smell is subtle, but reminds me of a forest in spring, all dark bark dressed in its lightest greens. Flowers still hiding in their buds, moss and loam wander in my nose, sweet and sour. My pace falls in the brown of a rotten leaves' carpet, but my head is sharpened by the soft blades of the rainy wind hitting my face...

Guess which tea I'm drinking!

That sounds like a greener oolong. An ali shan or similar.

It was the "dark bark" that made me think of the wuyi part of the oolong. When do we get to find out????

Well here's the answer.

I was drinking the last few leaves of my headache Dong ding... The tea was very weak, so I could appreciate water flavor (there's a new filter on my brita since yesterday). It did not have much floral notes as I used warmer water against less leaves. The tea was not that good, in fact: but it gave me this idea and I was curious to see which teas could be related to such a 'daydream'. I have to try all of those you guessed (except the Alishan).
