Wednesday TeaDay 1/28/09

by Chip » Jan 28th, '09, 02:06

Remember to visit the Gaiwan Contest under Teaware!
Good TeaDay everyone, please share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday, most responders indicated they had not tried Korean tea, but would be interested in giving it a go. The Korean tea discussion was quite interesting. You can still post and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. How far have you PHYSICALLY traveled SPECIFICALLY "for tea" (one way)? Please share details!

I am looking forward to sharing TeaJourneys on TeaDay today, no matter how short or how far. Bottoms up.

I rarely travel very far specifically for tea. I would have to say the furthest specific trip was about 60 miles. From my parents house into SF.

My only tea motivated travel has been to meetings of the Gainesville Tea Buzz and Gainesville is not a very big town!

Oops, I have traveled around in Minneapolis/St Paul for tea, and that is a bigger area. Well, in both cases, local travel. Never like some (BearsBearsBears, for instance) who has traveled to and within Asia primarily for tea!

I just did the LA trip. I ended up around 200 miles from San Diego to the last stop in LA.

Drinking Lupicia Chocolate Banana tea. Ok but nothing special. Be an interesting iced tea. Seems to get better as it cools.

Try it with a little bit of milk. The Au Chocolat wasn't anything special as a plain black, but really shined with a dab of milk.

I'v travelled no further than the post office to pick up tea shipments. It's about 500 meters distant.

No tea so far today, possibly some SN later on.

Wal Mart to get Red Rose. About 7 miles from my house. The rest has been internet shopping.

Less than 20 miles for me. I get most of my tea online because I don't know of many good tea vendors in Boston and Cambridge and I haven't found any that sell premium tea.

Afternoon tea was Huang Shan Mao Feng from Imperial, and my last tea of the day was Yin Zhen white from Upton.

I haven't traveled that far specifically for tea, so around 20 miles or so to go to one of the tea shops on the other end of town. I don't know if I would specifically take a trip for tea, but I would certainly take advantage of being in a place which has great tea if I found myself there! ... now to some how get over to china for 'business'.

Darjeeling #22 from Adagio in my cup right now, I just got a new batch of tea in, and oh my goodness, I am really enjoying this tea! GRAPE MONSTER!! RAWR! I have never had a Muscatel grape, but to me the taste is very reminessent of a type of grape I have had, called a Muscadine(Mus-Key-Dine is how I've always pronounced it..) This is a really cool tea, totally blows away any Darjeeling I've ever had in a tea-bag. There simply is no comparison.

Not yet... so never left the house. I've bought all my tea online. I have bought a few things at the grocery store, but I did it when I was already buying groceries, so that wasn't a solely tea-motivated journey.

Trying a 2003 Jing Mai sheng by Tai Lian. Only a few sips so far, but I'm pleased to note that this one actually has a taste to it, unlike yesterday's offering. In fact, this one has a prominent smokiness so far. . .

The furthest I've travelled is under 20 miles, though I plan to travel to China and India one day, specifically for the tea! One day...

80% done on the internet. Being the offspring of a small business owner, I try to shop locally if I can. We have one of those hotsy-totsy Teavanna stores now. But they're way to expensive for what you get.

9" of snow in central Indiana! Dh is outisde digging our way out. It looks like a snow globe outside. thankfully, school is cancelled.

I visited the Kew Botanical Garden last summer.
Because I was in London, I also "visited" "Fortnum and Mason" and bought "Fortmason"(assam, yunnan, jasmine and orange blossom) tea there.
That travel wasn't specifically for tea of course (the distance between Brussel and London is a bit long for a tea online orderable).
But I walked from Baker street to Picadilly street specifically for tea.
