Alot of this has to do with how much you are willing to spend......most artisan tea storage containers are rather small (usually able to hold 100g. or less) (unless you are talking about clay jars or things of that nature). Anyway, here are some of my favorites on both the expensive side and the "not so expensive" side:
Expensive, but excellent:

Not expensive, but nice and functional:

*I find it difficult to find decorative storage tins that are functional and of good quality in such a large size as 8 oz. (If I was going to store such a large amount of tea...which I normally dont since what I drink loses quality so quickly, I would just buy cermic o-ring sealed containers from wal-mart or some store of that sort) Primary concerns: light, oxygen, moisture, and other odors that could potentially get in there and alter the taste. Anyway, I hope this helps you somewhat.....

I searched online for several days looking for the best deal on tins. Trioxin is right, Rishi ($3 ea.) is probably the best deal. Another place I ordered some from were Tao of Tea. They have a silver color and a copper color. There's are only $4 and they hold a bit more. Personally, as long as the tin does its duty, I would prefer to spend my money on tea.

Thanks. Its actually a shelf I picked up at auction. Old pics, its now stuffed tight with tea and tea wares. I picked up the tin box at TJ Maxx on clearance. Its stuffed tight with tea samples.gingko wrote:Wow! Your closet is so adorable! What is that gorgeous box on top level? Actually they've been very good. I keep some very delicate teas in them (Castleton Moonlight) and they still taste fresh. They are double lidded, so they seem to stay fairly airtight. As far as the size, they may be able to hold 12oz of water, but unless its a very tight rolled tea, only about 4oz or less of leaf.Saifuddin wrote:Trioxin: Aren't those tins way too big for short term storage? Do you actually keep 12 oz in each or a smaller amount? Isn't it bad for the tea to have a lot of air in the tin? I'm thinking of getting some of those tins, but I don't want to have to buy such a large amount of tea for each.
we have the same thermometer, how exciting. hah.Trioxin wrote:Thanks. Its actually a shelf I picked up at auction. Old pics, its now stuffed tight with tea and tea wares.
