TeaChat Gaiwan Semi-Finals: Poll #2

by Chip » Feb 4th, '09, 19:11

In the semi-final round of the TeaChat Gaiwan Contest, please cast your vote for your favorite gaiwan in each of the 4 semifinal polls. Photos for each semi-final poll are located in each appropriate poll topic for you to review and decide which gaiwan reigns supreme.

PLEASE pay close attention to the "number" in front of each entry since some participants entered multiple entries.

This round of voting will close on Sunday 2/08/09 at 11:59PM The 2 gaiwan with the most votes from each of the 4 polls will advance to the final round. In the event of a tie, all top voted gaiwan will advance, BUT only one gaiwan can advance per participant.

Good luck to all participants. There will also be at least one consolation category that wil be announced, so gaiwan that did NOT advance to the final can still win a prize.

I am a sucker for Peonies ... especially if they don't harbor ants.

What more appropriate to that flowering harbinger of summer, than Melon Slice, Lu An Guan Pian green.

More than color or drawing, I think it is the form that I most love about the gaiwan. That’s why I am so drawn to the plain ones. Their gentle curves make them essentially feminine vessels or soothing landscapes.

The white gaiwan doesn’t compete with the tea for visual impact. Instead it frames and highlights the tea.

I will enter my monster truck of a gaiwan.

This is the only gaiwan I currently use. But I have multiple copies of it in case accident happens :D

Gaiwan in use, with the other side of the cup facing us. It's winter tea si ji chun from zen8tea, very nice tea, especially for a si ji chun.

Here is my entry, Only the lonely gaiwan. It won't be for long since I think I need the rice porcelain gaiwan that Cinnamon Kitty posted. :P The leaves are Dan Cong Oolong from Seven Cups.

My camera is dying... the macro setting refuses to work :( So apologies in advance for the low resolution of this pic.

Gaiwan: Crystalline emerald gaiwan by Eilong of Taiwan. (Also called "blue pearl" by other sellers. The colour is really midway between blue and green - more of an aqua.)
Tea: Cha Wang Tai Ping Hou Kui from TeaSpring.
