Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. About a year ago, Olivierco asked, "when was the last time you did not have a tea for an entire day?" Seems like a good question to ask again.

Friday TeaDay 2/06/09 Last day without tea?

by Chip » Feb 6th, '09, 01:12

Welcome TeaFriends to another day we can share tea, what is in our cup, and talk ... tea, what else. So please share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday oolong was voted the best looking leaf while brewing. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. About a year ago, Olivierco asked, "when was the last time you did not have a tea for an entire day?" Seems like a good question to ask again. And when you did not drink tea, what was the reason?

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up!

Did you vote in the Gaiwan Contest?

Green Goddess Oolong

by Salsero » Feb 6th, '09, 01:39

Yikes, why would anyone do that? Just the thought scares the begeezus out of me!

This tea from Floating Leaves was a thoughtful gift from Devites some while ago. It is a lighter and more floral cousin of Tie Guan Yin. Thanks Devites!

A day without tea would be a bad teaday...and one I havent experienced for a long time.....and never really plan to ever again. Anyway...today has been a slow teaday for me....I have been in the geology building since about 5 this afternoon and just left about 30 minutes ago.......just ate dinner @ 1:15AM :( and just had two cups of ice brewed sencha......still didnt finish everything I needed to but I am headed back early in the morning to have it finished up before 9am. Luckily I am getting in some matcha from www.matchasource.com that the owner graciously sent me free of charge :) even if it tastes bad at least I wont have to pay.

March 2005, during the first days a two week school trip when I forgot to bring some tea with me.

Yunnan golden tips this morning.

The first week of August 2008 is the last time that I went without for an entire day, and that's when I switched from coffee to tea. I always travel with it and I keep it at work. I've avoided inexpensive bag tea, but I do plan to try `Red Rose' to see what the the fuss is about!

Drank bargain Wuyi oolongs all morning then polished off some Teavana Gyokuro, and ended the day with Huo Shan Huang Ya from Teaspring. Of the four yellows I've tried I like this the best, in fact I just received more today.

I voted more than 5 years! I honestly can't remember a time when I haven't had at least some tea in a day. I did get rather annoyed that a restaurant I went to on a business trip, which was inside the Louisville, KY airport didn't serve tea ( of any kind! ) ...I know, astonishing right? I ended up going to the airport Starbucks ( aka fivebucks ) for some, I had a chai latte. It was quite good, but expensive.

Irish Breakfast from Adagio in my cup this morning. What an interesting tea, anyone else get some 'green bean' vibe from this tea? The weird thing is that I kinda like it.

Probably this week. I think I skipped a day of "real tea" but I did drink some herbal/Rooibos tea with supper.

I always try to dedicate some time in the day for tea, but sometimes unfortunately it just doesn't materialise! I think a couple of days ago was the last time I went a whole day without tea at home, cheap, nasty bagged tea at my department doesn't count as far as I'm concerned.

This morning before I came in, Lapsang souchong (Teaspring). I officially adore this tea now after not being so sure about it at first. The contrast between the hot and cold aroma is amazing!

Have a great day everyone!

Jack :D

My erratic and varied work schedule means that I often spend the entire day well out of reach of loose leaf teas. I don't recall the day exactly, but last week I went at least one day without tea-ish goodness. Possibly even two.
I choose to view it as heightening the anticipation and enjoyment the next time I have tea.

Today I'm starting with oolong. It will be a good day, I think :)

Yesterday!! :( And I did have plans to have some oolong at work but no time to brew.

I still prefer coffee first thing in the morning then have tea later in the am, sometimes lunch but always in the afternoon. However, I just got too busy with parent conferences to make any. So I consoled myself by purchasing some rishi snow buds white tea at whole foods on the way home yesterday to try at lunch today. I have only tried one white tea flavored with coconut and didn't care for it. However, I think that I brewed it incorrectly and as much as I like coconut even coconut flavored black tea, this white tea was overpowered by the coconut.

I have 7 30-minute parent conferences this am and will sooooo be looking forward to my new tea at noon. :)

and maybe some oolong after all when my afternoon conferences finish-

but then a nice glass of wine when I get home! :D

I guess it's all about preparation! I said less than a month, but it may actually be less than 6 months. During the Christmas holidays, I went home to see my family, and I did not take any tea-brewing stuff with me, so I had many days without tea. Maybe this year I will take something with me?

I'm trying out my first Dan Cong oolong this morning. It's interesting, because the color of the leaves reminded me of Da Hong Pao, and the smell of the brewed tea does as well. But the taste... wow, I was not expecting that (assuming I brewed it correctly). A citrus kick with the one. . .!

About every other week I travel for a couple of days. I haven't been able to set myself up for drinking real tea on those days, but I am working on it. I end up drinking coffee during this time and it always sets me off on the wrong start.
The good thing is that I am home this morning enjoying a nice hot cup of aged Dancong.

I voted less than a month, but it may have been longer ago.

So far today have had anonymus dark-style oolong, matcha latte, Yerba Mate, "Yellow Tea" from Sunon region in Anhui. It's too oxidated (and cheap) to be real. But I kinda like it  Feeling very caffeinated by now though

Had some real nice Chai this week! Didn't think that would ever happen... But it was in a café and they had NO IDEA were they bought the stuff from :x

Have bought far to much tea last weeks. Got four more packages yesterday  Now am a bit stressed and trying to finish some off.

Oh, and reading The Book of Tea ftm.
The noise comes from the other side of the mirror

For some reason I don't make tea at home on the weekends. No reason, but I often go the entire weekend with brewing tea - I don't count restaurant iced tea as "having tea"! :D

I always have tea at work!

This morning I'm using the last of my Margaret's Hope darjeeling. Guess that means I need to stop at my purveyor of teas tomorrow. 8)
