NYC Tea Meetup (May 2009)

by brandon » Feb 9th, '09, 08:00

I know this is a bit early, but I would like to gauge interest and plot the "must see" schedule for the 2nd big time TeaChat Meetup on Saturday, May 9th in NYC.

I know there are several chatters already in New York, but I am hoping some other folks from the northeast can make it by train or car.

I'll be there... maybe you will be too.

I missed last time, so perhaps I can make it this year. :) Any other details?

I know it is Saturday, but it is also Mother's Day weekend which could cause schedule conflicts for some of us.

Otherwise, I am interested.

We've been talking about ideas for encouraging/facilitating meetups via TeaChat. Can someone please give me a sense of how the first NYC meetup went? Number of people who attended... Venue... Duration... Number of fistfights... Stuff like that.

I might consider it. Not completely sure since May 10th is my birthday – not a big deal though.

Not sure of my schedule either but I am definately up for a NYC meetup. There are a ton of places we could go to (tea gallery, ito en). I think it would be neat to do a wednesday meetup at one of the Urasenke Chanoyu Center's demos.

Actually Ilya, I met up with a few people in NYC a few weeks ago, but I was actually referring to the much larger LA meetup that happened last month. Which seems to have gone very well indeed. They hit 4 or 5 venues throughout the course of the day.

This sounds great! I am a long but not impossible distance away from NYC. I will keep it in mind from now on and see if it can fit in my schedule.

It sounds like an awesome idea! Now to figure out the easiest and cheapest way to get from Syracuse to NYC.

Where in NYC exactly? I'm not really too far of a drive from the city, and by may I should (hopefully) have a vehicle. If I can't make it however, it could be interesting to possibly set up something like this for us teachatters in PA, since I know there are quite a few of us :)

Hmm I was planning on heading up to visit in June, but perhaps I could push it to May. I miss my parent's dog.

not to mention, by going in May, I'd avoid that lovely June-August NYC subway smell....
