Tea Spring: Jade TGY :D

by 10/6 » Feb 12th, '09, 01:22

First of all, this tea took forever to come in the mail so I had plenty of time to build up unrealistic expectations.

I opened up the package and smelled the leaves, the dry aroma was fantastic.

I then proceeded with my yixing teapot in a sort of pseudo gong-fu fashion.

I had been tea starved for a while now and I was over whelmed by the return of the golden elixir. So I was in heaven for the duration of the first cup, mostly in heaven for the second.

After my first few cups of tea I started to taste the consequence of my reckless brewing.

I had not used enough leaf and I had not steeped the leaves long enough.

Upon sniffing the teapot I realized there was substantial character in the leaf I was not successfully bringing out.

I don't have a lot of leaf so I was wondering If any of you tea chatters had any recommendations for brewing parameters specifically regarding tgy. It would be fantastic if any of you had recommendations for this specific tgy.

Thanks in advance,
10/6

I was greatly dissapointed with that tea, it is bad quality for huge price.
Try Kams TGY it is much better for half the price, and I am expecting Supreme + from rich barbarian. It is not your fault if it doesn`t come out the way you expect, the leaves of King grade that I had before were all intact and the stems were removed just like with japanese green tea, and the leaves have saw-like edges that are light red in color, check your tea, you will find many broken leaves, look at Herb Masters post "Romancing the dream" on the second page you will find pictures about high quality TGY ( high quality for lower price).

My order of rich barbarian tea is also on its way here. I am looking forward to trying them, I got the three highest grades. A tin of the supreme and supreme+, along with a sample of the king grade.

Sorry haven't tried anything from tea spring yet so I can't really give any advice on their tea...

No need to feel sad. You just learned something new about tea.
