I love those things. I just ordered a similar one off of ebay (Dragon Tea House). I'll be sure to post it when it arrives in a month, lol.

its really simple concept of pressure,
hot water makes the thing goes really hot and sucks in the cool water you dip it in...
then when its had enough intake of water, when you pour hot water on it,
it pushes the water out.

my avatar is actually something like that too... those 2 frogs actually squirt the same way through their mouth

thanks for your comments,

a little word of caution thou, sometimes, the tiny holes do get stuck with something that blocks out water squirting out... it usually happens to the red frog in the picture but never to the green one... a bit strange but a little shake usually get it squirting again

i do have some other squirting "toys" like little boys peeing... a nice novelty, i think i threw all of them away already, but you can get those for 1 rmb each in china, and usually its everywhere you find tea.

So it just works on thermal expansion/compression alone. Aside from being an interesting novelty at the Tea table I wonder if anyone uses these to teach Thermodynamics to kids.

I have a pair of zisha baby boys of this kind. When you pour hot water on them they pee :P But I don't play with them often because the water goes as far as a few feet away  Recently probably the channel is stuck somewhere, and they don't squirt. I am trying to "repair" them. But not sure yet how.

usually i shake it, but if it doesn't fix it that way,
i try to blow through the hole, and it usually works...

i could just imagine you blowing through the baby boys .... hehe :D

I tried it :D Either the blowing works, or the shaking, or because they received more hot water. Now they pee again :P I did take a photo of them peeing and will put it on later.

My little boys are made of just the red brick kind of clay. Darwin, I think your frogs are cuter!

I have to agree, lol. The frog was more expensive but I think a little boy peeing would ruin the sophistication of a tea ceremony.

That's true  It's nothing serious. My husband doesn't like the peeing boys either
